Cut Price Kawasaki Electric Bikes
Never knew Kawasaki have been marketing these in the UK. I presume not very successfully, seeing as pre reg bikes are being sold at near half price.
This model sounds like it could be worth it as a commuter:

451cc twin cylinder petrol engine. Hybrid electric motor. Economy of a 250cc. Acceleration of a 1000cc. No range anxiety with the petrol engine.
Any takers?

The bike seems a good idea on paper, but ultimately sales look like they tell the true story. Riders don't want it.

Re: Cut Price Kawasaki Electric Bikes
I wonder how many have tried it, or even would be willing to try it.
Who is it on here who's got a fully electric bike? ISTR he took one out as a loaner almost against his will and ended up buying it he liked it so much!

Re: Cut Price Kawasaki Electric Bikes
?
It's a 58hp 450cc twin with an additional 10hp electric assistance. That should be good for at least 110 mph.

Re: Cut Price Kawasaki Electric Bikes
Yeah, probably. After reading the review, I'd scale back my comment to 'should reach 100mph'...

Re: Cut Price Kawasaki Electric Bikes
I would have thought it could top a tonne? I've not read it, is there some rpm limit or something? My old 33bhp 400cc bike could reach a tonne (with a lanky 17 year old
). Even the unassisted one should be able to do that easily with 58bhp I'd have thought.

Re: Cut Price Kawasaki Electric Bikes
But isn't tonnes metric and ton imperial?
They were ton up boys, not tonne up boys.

Re: Cut Price Kawasaki Electric Bikes
On that topic it weighs a hefty 227kgs. The battery itself is 13 kilos.

Re: Cut Price Kawasaki Electric Bikes
A ton was slang for 100 mph many years ago.
Tonne only refers to weight.

Re: Cut Price Kawasaki Electric Bikes
It probably would top a ton fairly easily but it would be slow getting there and the MCN report said its comfortable cruising speed was 70mph. So top speed really isn't its raison d'etre. Reading between the lines, it's a lot less sporty than it looks.Mr. Dazzle wrote: Sat Mar 01, 2025 3:57 pm I would have thought it could top a tonne? I bet they shift them now.
