Re: Great bike pictures!
I’d hazard a guess early 83
Had his bad crash at Siverstone on the Yam V4 then returned on a customer Suzuki.
Could this photo be on some pre season test before any sponsorship was announced ??

Re: Great bike pictures!
Is that Montjuic Park?
I had got it all sorted out to go to the World Endurance event there... then they cancelled it... and closed the circuit.

Re: Great bike pictures!
Wherever it is, I don't believe it's a GP World championship race, as those riders never raced in the same classes. Hailwood raced in 250/350/500, Pasolini raced in 250/350, Agostini raced in 350/500 and Read raced in 125/250.The Spin Doctor wrote: ↑Wed Jan 24, 2024 11:47 pmIs that Montjuic Park?

So it's an 'invitation' race similar to Mallory's Race of the Year.

Re: Great bike pictures!
Errr... Read was the first rider to win world championships in the 125 cc, 250 cc and 500 cc classes. He won on an MV in 500GPs in 1972, and again in 74.mangocrazy wrote: ↑Wed Jan 24, 2024 11:54 pm Wherever it is, I don't believe it's a GP World championship race, as those riders never raced in the same classes. Re: Great bike pictures!
Yes, but in 1968 Read was contracted to Yamaha and was only racing their 125 and 250cc 4 cylinder two-strokes.The Spin Doctor wrote: ↑Thu Jan 25, 2024 12:06 amErrr... Re: Great bike pictures!
Also Honda withdrew from GP racing (all classes) at the end of 1967, but allowed Hailwood to contest non-GP race on 'privateer' Honda machinery. So if this pic was really taken in 1968 then the race was a non-World Championship event.

The Decoson by Randy Grubb
The Decoson is so called because it's the "son" of the now-famous Decoliner (another of Randy's creations), it's based on a 1979 Harley-Davidson Sportster..
