Wherever it is, I don't believe it's a GP World championship race, as those riders never raced in the same classes. Hailwood raced in 250/350/500, Pasolini raced in 250/350, Agostini raced in 350/500 and Read raced in 125/250.

So it's an 'invitation' race similar to Mallory's Race of the Year.

Yes, but in 1968 Read was contracted to Yamaha and was only racing their 125 and 250cc 4 cylinder two-strokes.

Yes, I remember in particular that there were a lot of early season races in Italy with good prize money that attracted the top stars. Rimini was one 'round the houses' race I remember, and there were plenty of others. You'd need someone whose speciality was pre-1970 European architecture to pronounce on country and location I suspect. But Montjuic was (as the name suggests) held in park-land. That photo doesn't look very park-landish to me.

I'm trying to make out the wording on one of the signs in the pic and it appears to say 'Percolo', which (apparently) is 'danger' in Italian. So on that (admittedly flimsy) basis I think it's Italy, and early in the year due to the lack of leaves on the trees.
