It did look stupid, but it didn't matter on a cheap track bike

Yes, but, well, I'm me. There's correct, there's wrong, there's nothing other than that.

Hence, I rebought the swing arm today.

It's got to be right
Eh?
Mad man! :D

Well, i thought that even when respraying the swingarm area we'd not get it 100%, so it would always bug me, it would also affect the future resale value i think as i'm honest and would point it out. It wasn't exactly a lot of money and will be 100% when done.... so sod it... it's getting done.

The good part is, now you're back i can rope you in to helping... :) Heck, i may just deliver both to yours :D

As it rained i thought, well now is as good a day as any to get it ready.

I've not removed the swingarm just yet, but there's only the main pivot bolt to get out and the shock mount bracket bolt to do as well.

I've got it ready on the straps, with a trolley jack underneath, i'll get the front brake on as well do it doesn't move.... hopefully lol. I may need a grown up for stage 2 once the swingarm arrives @2xtwins @Tricky @dern @crust

Yup, me likewise if needed, albeit looks like you'll well into it there matey, and as we all know, in the words of Mr Haynes, "re-assembly is simply a reversal of removal" ;) !

What's the score then- does this mean you will now have 3 x MT07 swingarms or have I got my wires crossed?

(P.S. you're still a madman :D )

If you fancy it mate, then tomorrow it should arrive i reckon.

It's just a question of getting swinger out, then the replacement in... Once that's done and it's back on the Abba stand, then i'm back in my normal world of day to day spannering... it's just balance/support worries that makes this one 'different'

No, 2....

This one is the one that arrived, but i thought "sod it, we'll fix the current one" So i sent that back....

I was then sitting there dwelling about seeing a 'line' where the old paint met the new one, or didn't quite look perfect, so thought, sod it, lets get the swingarm bought. It's only £120 so just makes sense to have it 100% straight.

I'm happy with either or even both you lads to scoot over once it gets here :) We'll have a beer, talk shit and do the final bit.

What's the swinger nut on these- is it a castellated affair like the R1, R6 etc? If so I have the appropriate spanner (well, for an R1/ R6 anyway)

Is it just a normal nut on the end of the swingarm pivot spindle?

Some bikes need a special tool.

If you had the swingarm removal kit for the ABBA, you wouldn't need the strops and/or a special helper?

I have to use it because of the silly aftermarket swing arm pivot on the Pink GSXR...

Yeah maybe. However, that would now mean putting it all back together to start again as i can't get it off that without the wheel in...

There's literally only the swingarm pivot bolt left to do now and it's out.

I get ya.

It's still worth having tho'

You can use it on pretty much any bike without having to buy the specific ABBA kit for the model.

That reminds me, I have a brand new unopened Abba stand with the Mt-07 kit inside! More stuff to be cast aside in the loft of plenty!
