Re: Ukraine, housing a refugee.
Didn't agree with the Gulf wars, the Afghan wars (US one, USSR one I was a kid but that was wank too) or this Ukraine one.
But I won't be taking in any refugees mainly cos I'm honest and would rather not. Nothing to do with skin colour either way. There's wars and horrible shit happening all the time unfortunately.
As for Ukraine I think Russia has some legitimate concerns but it's being a total arsehole about it.
I'm mainly concerned about this conflict spreading to the Baltic/Poland as then we could get involved.
It's all a bit shit

And the bad ones are very very bad.
Middling ones are fairly rare.
And I have met more than a few good ones.

Can these buggers not be Brexited away?
And anyone trying to help be dismissed as virtue signalling leftists?
I don't understand anyone who isn't solely interested in grasping a grubby little haul for themselves. And so I fear them.

I love that "Virtue Signalling" insult. It suggests that those loudly opposing it are twat signalling?Asian Boss wrote: Fri Mar 18, 2022 8:21 pm Can these buggers not be Brexited away?

I think I'd I've had zero terrible female bosses whereas there's a 50 50 shout on a male boss being an awful incompetent twat. Maybe the lady ones had to try harder to succeed.Wreckless Rat wrote: Fri Mar 18, 2022 7:43 pm

Re: Ukraine, housing a refugee.
We should all help each other and not have arguments over whether we should house someone in crisis no matter their creed or colour in the first place.
But it's only in crisis that we seem to take notice.
Is this because in crisis, no matter where we are, that we feel the vulnerability of the unknown? Knowing it might actually come our way soon, and take away our nice manicured lives?
Oh well, you reep what you sow!
Pass me the cider and the common sense!

Re: Ukraine, housing a refugee.
No serious discussions ever took place with Putin. Three weeks prior to becoming president he presented the idea to the Russian public of joining NATO, but got no further than this:Wreckless Rat wrote: Mon Mar 14, 2022 8:35 am
Putin is an arse, before you accuse me of being a Russian troll. But.... he wanted to JOIN NATO, we wouldnt let him, as without the Russian bogeyman, NATO had no purpose and all those lovely arms contracts....well, they would be ahrder to justify to the good ol' tax payer.
He never made that application“Putin said: ‘When are you going to invite us to join Nato?’ And [Robertson] said: ‘Well, we don’t invite people to join Nato, they apply to join Nato.’ And he said: ‘Well, we’re not standing in line with a lot of countries that don’t matter.’”

Let's leave the Putin shite for the other thread. No need to argue to the death in here.
