Projects using JB Weld

Another JB snippet!. This time it's a Fantic badge fitted to headlight mask below the headlight. It's a piece of ally shaped and bent, 2 M5 csk fixing screws were then stuck in place with JB. An Italian flag sticker was then stuck down and a 'F' cut out to suit the 'F' fantic logo cut from a small piece of ally which was then stuck in place with JB.

Koso fuel and oil pressure gauges stuck in place with JB. Don't worry haven't got many more examples of JB left!

Have you estimated what % weight of the bike is actually JB?

Quite a bit, maybe 20 packs or so of the stuff!. My other half thinks I use it for DIY and household repairs!

Never really shared the love for JB weld , have used it but found it does not drill and tap great.
Its epoxy resin with metal particles essentially.
I have used it as a metal filler but for joining parts i prefer something like Sikaflex .

IIIRC the solar panels on my van were glued down with Sikaflex. I've not used it personally, (the panels were fitted by a shop) but it seems pretty good stuff.

Seems there's quite a good range of adhesives used by the Pro's and Diy er's, which is worth knowing!!

Yes, I remember their products are widely used for caravans and motorhomes.

Sikaflex keeps a bit of flex, so isn’t any good for joints which are meant to be rigid.

Just fixed some mesh behind the headlight mask cut outs with JB just to make them look a bit more purposeful!. The grey JB has been painted white just to try and disguise it.

When I replaced the NC450 sohc engine with the NC450S dohc engine I had to make new brackets for the HT coil and rectifier/regulator due to the limited space above the cylinder head. These brackets were made out of ally shaped and bent with spacers fixed with JB.

I bought a GSXR 750 years ago and stuck it straight into a mates garage over the winter. He phoned me up to say there was a pool of oil under the bike. On investigation there was a lump out the crankcase stuck on with JB. That probably explained the multiple owners it had had. Buy it,find out the problem and sell it on.

The picture is the welding that my mate did, easy for someone with the right knowledge and equipment. Now why couldn’t someone have done that before punting on a defective bike?

Are you sure it was JB and not that chemical metal stuff?

When I fitted the new engine I had to lift the petrol tank up 6mm front and rear so that I had some clearance between the tank and the engine, the following pdf expains how I did this and also the use of JB.

Made up this plate to fix Kreiga Rally pack to Berotec rear rack which has locating blocks stuck into position with JB.

This is my latest and last project that uses JB, so over to you Guys now for your examples!. Nothing fancy just made a bracket to secure the fuel filter to the carb. I removed the throttle position sensor and used the fixing hole for securing the bracket instead. The CDI that I'm using doesn't have a TPS input so no problem removing it. However I needed to blank off the TPS aperture to avoid any air leaks, which I did so by making a ally blanking plug and fixing into position with JB.

I had to do something similar for the Keihin FCR carb on my B'Zuki as I've fitted a cable operated choke and it won't allow the TPS to be fitted. I just turned up a plastic cap out of some scrap. I'm told that all the TPS does for this engine (DRZ400E) is to increase the idle speed a bit when in gear. Anybody know any different? It seems to run perfectly well.
