@Noggin , while you're in hospital practice opening the blade and rotating the collar to lock it until it becomes a natural action, might prevent little accidents.....

I have one in my toiletries bag that was a corporate gift from some long-forgotten company. Minus the pen (impossible to write with anyway), nail file (useless too, just raid the vanity pack in the hotel bathroom), toothpick (?) (floss is your friend) and something else I can't remember, which have been lost over the years. The scissors are still there but not much good for anything and the blade, actually being quite sharp, is good for cutting open tubes of sun cream to get the last dregs out*.

Likewise. Even if I'm dressed for a wedding/funeral I'll still have a little penknife somewhere.
