I'd say it was more down to me not tightening the bolts after removing and fitting the wheel.

WTF happened there then... Well i thought someone had smacked it while i was having coffee and damaged it.
But i sat and thought more about it and ended up Googling about a bit on the internet i found some distinctly similar threads on the Kawasaki 300 forums. It seems the 2 adjuster nuts have likely come loose and spun the retaining block which in turn causes damage to the swingarm.
Is that a bit of a bugger, well yes, just a bit.
I've had to suck it up and sent it to the insurance company for repair. They were initially going to use a company called 4th Dimension who are their repairer, but i wanted to use Yamaha instead to ensure i get genuine parts and a genuine Yamaha mechanic.
The odds are, as i was the last person to touch the back end, this is on me in terms of 'who did what'....
Happily, apart from what you can see, it's 100% fine... So once that's sorted we'll be all good again. Apart from the wallet.
Hmmm, bummer, but not a biggie to sort by the look of it- will it really be financially worthwhile to involve insurance?- I'd be just getting a new adjuster assembly and sorting the swing-arm damage myself.
That pic oes show how much built down to a price it is though eh
As it's a brand new bike i'll stick with getting them to do it. Buying even a used Swingarm is more than my excess, plus the fitting.... I'm not hammering it back and leaving it half arsed. It'll be a bit of a hit, but i'd rather have it 100%

Nah, i don't think it's their/Yamahas fault... although i'd have thought as I removed it, re-fitted it 20 mins later i shouldn't have needed to tighten them as it must sit in the same place still... It is a poor design, but clearly by the fact not many seem to have had it, it's likely user error.

LOL i'd only been back 10 minutes... The toys were properly out of the pram then as i thought someone/something had smacked it.

If you were keeping it I'd sort it properly.
But given this probably won't last 18 month, probably more likely 12 I'd sort it myself. That doesn't mean a proper bodge job but a decent repair shouldn't be too much and won't impact your NCB. But sounds like it's too late for that.

NCB is protected and TBH if i sell this one, i don't see another bike coming in. If this goes i'm likely to throw in my hand.

That would be a reasonable assumption yeah. But only an issue if it was twatted on rear lol.

If you're going to replace the swingarm why not have a go with one from a Tracer - slightly longer but aluminium and threaded for bobbins.
Often thought about it myself.

Not sure about shock mounts etc. You can see the 14-18 for example wouldn't fit mine due to that.

Why not? It's accidental damage, same as if I dropped it off sidestand at home? Or in a random car park.
The only difference to normal is that I'm not claiming against anyone, other than my insurance company.
What happens if your TV falls off the wall, you claim against your insurance which covers accidental damage.

Is the damage really that bad?
If that was fixed and touched in,you'd never know,plus it's not like you'd be hiding something that's going to cause catastrophic failure for any future owner.
