Shorter throw/quick action. The MT07 is a long reach from closed to open, the R6 shortens that a lot.

I like mine a lot too, but I do find it runs out of grunt too quickly when on the open roads? The guy who sold my one to me, sold it on behalf of the owners widow, but he had one himself and reckoned the R6 throttle tube was a surprisingly good mod to make? Not sure I'll bother but he did bang on about it1

Getting an R6 rather than an R6 throttle tube would fix that issue

I'm sure I fitted a r6 tube to an sv650 or suchlike. I think it was about £7 though? I think Yamaha are selling them with a handgrip fitted on now, which I suppose would explain the price hike?

A 'quick action' throttle will require more care from the rider at town speeds than the stock,but snatchiness is more a result of poor/eco fuelling.

I've used an HRC throttle tube on various bikes, I think it was about £6, made the throttle a quarter turn from closed to wfo, I didn't notice any difference in traffic. I haven't got it any more as I gave it to a mate to use on his race Fireblade.

I have an R6 tube on my MT07 & it's definitely worthwhile, the standard throw is way too long. Honestly no negative side effects.

Well i wasn't going to post this... but hey, why not... 30s after the pic above, i noticed this

WTF happened there then... Well i thought someone had smacked it while i was having coffee and damaged it.

But i sat and thought more about it and ended up Googling about a bit on the internet i found some distinctly similar threads on the Kawasaki 300 forums. It seems the 2 adjuster nuts have likely come loose and spun the retaining block which in turn causes damage to the swingarm.

Is that a bit of a bugger, well yes, just a bit.

I've had to suck it up and sent it to the insurance company for repair. They were initially going to use a company called 4th Dimension who are their repairer, but i wanted to use Yamaha instead to ensure i get genuine parts and a genuine Yamaha mechanic.

The odds are, as i was the last person to touch the back end, this is on me in terms of 'who did what'....

Happily, apart from what you can see, it's 100% fine... So once that's sorted we'll be all good again. Apart from the wallet.

They were the repair agents for both my bike & car crashes a couple of years ago, and they sucked. Everything got done and paid out in the end but it took some serious phone ping pong to get there.

Me too, and it's not even a Yamaha- have the same tube (R1 part no) on my ZX6, makes it much quicker action

Hmmm, bummer, but not a biggie to sort by the look of it- will it really be financially worthwhile to involve insurance?- I'd be just getting a new adjuster assembly and sorting the swing-arm damage myself.
