Shouldn't be surprising, but, whilst I got tips on most transfers in a minibus and slightly less in the Sprinter - but in a coach, until today, Zero. You go from driving 8 or 19 people to up to 57 people and suddenly, not tips and barely a thank you!!
Soooo - a 10€ tip was a lovely surprise (would be freaking awesome if one day all the passengers, or even only half, did the same)!!!!![]()

I remember when i was a kid going on coach trips with family or even to and from a wedding venue. Someone always went round with a hat for the driver. Dont know why they called it that as it was a whip round and chuck your coin in a Polly bag.Noggin wrote: Sat Jan 10, 2026 5:41 pm I got a tip today![]()

No one seems to do it these days, but generally I'm driving groups of people, not one group of people, so I guess organisation is different.Felix wrote: Tue Jan 13, 2026 11:07 amI remember when i was a kid going on coach trips with family or even to and from a wedding venue. I remember on coach trips as a kid, someone would always go up and down the bus passing a hat round.Taipan wrote: Tue Jan 13, 2026 1:59 pm We've done a few day trips on coaches whilst abroad. We often see the driver has a basket on the dash for tips.
TBH I am tempted to do similar to what a mate used to do in the chalet - he had a small tin or box labelled 'Tips - ski lessons please' or something like that!! Obviously, a bit different and he got to chat with people through a week, rather than have them sat behind him for 3 ish hours!! (and he was an awesome freestyle skier, so it was a smidge tongue in cheek!!Taipan wrote: Tue Jan 13, 2026 1:59 pm We've done a few day trips on coaches whilst abroad. Just like the old days when we had to bail you out with shirts, we treated you as a charity case, and let you win
MC must have a magic wand or summot, an unbelievable performance, makes you ask wtf has that been all season.
