And that includes going up and down the mountain every day which definitely challenges the consumption - I doubt that the gentle drive down (depending on how much of a hurry I'm in) will ever make up for the stick it gets going up cos I'm rarely thinking about fuel consumption when going home

Anyway - as an aside to the above,
I get anything from 12-18 mpg going up the mountain - 18 tonight with no lead foot overtakes and, whilst not majorly boy racer style, it was "progressive" !!
Going down I can get around 75mpg or more
Then there's the messing about around the valley in between shifts, haven't really kept an eye on that much, but when I drove to Albertville the other day (mostly motorway and I was going a bit quicker on that than I should -130kmph
So, whilst the overall 36mpg, over the last 3500kms, possibly isn't the greatest, I do spend around 1/3 to 1/2 the day going up or down the mountain. Once I've moved to the valley I should get much better returns - and spend a shitload less on fuel as should only have to drive a few kms in the valley

Yes the fuel in 1850 is vastly overpriced and it's not real MPG because you dropped a 1000 metres of altitude, but who needs facts
