Thanks for that Planning to head to south Italy and ferry over to Croatia visiting lager tourist areas for probably 50% of the three week trip. Probably just going to have to have a plan B with food in the camperbus. I see me living on steak for three weeks Saying that i do love a bit Fillet. If you aren't full on reactive coeliac (I had guests that told me that if I used a baking powder with gluten, they'd be vomiting within minutes and for hours!!), then you can probably manage ok by avoiding flour/gluten based foods. France is very meat and cheese based! Salad usually has a dressing so you won't have 100% confidence in the dressing
No idea of Italy or Croatia - good chance that the Italians have got a decent number of places doing gluten free so that people can actually eat their pasta?

Try DeepL for translations - it is generally a bit better than Google! It doesn't do translating writing yet, but for chat in a resto, it will be better!

Tonight I'm having a bit of hotel. was getting late for tent shenanigans. Got as far as Triberg in Germany. Beautiful place fairly quiet, but it's got Al capones bar and I'm now in some place food.

Today, I've road some of the best I've ever ridden. Sunshine most part. Through Saarbrucken and on to Baden-Baden and the 500 South.

Quite a few VR oneabes but all good fun. The biggest issue on the journey so far is " wtf is the speed limit "?

It was getting on abit so I decided to hotel. Google maps, hotel's and I find one for 50e with breakfast, that'll do.. The best bit was the road satnav took me on, think L93. It's all forest, logging and hairpins with perfect surface. Fantastic.

However, the place it took me to, was a indoor camping shitole, so phone out and found a place in Triberg, not far away and it's tidy. Lovely houses amongst the forestry. Very quiet but food and drink available.

Gonna be nice having a bed and a breakfast in the morning. Happy days

Just looking back at route it's 500 out of Baden-Baden, then right hand 28 and then left just before bad Peter something or other, L93 freiersbach. Superb road and zero traffic.

What direction next? South west about 50 miles away is Todtnau what has a nice wee bobsleigh. I found this more exciting than the 500 i just came down.

What a great app, thank you. You can talk to it also and hear the translation. That is a bit better than shoving a phone in someone's face and saying read this

It is. You are in control to go as fast/slow as you want what can be crap if the person who went before you is a wimp as you catch them up half way down. I was lucky when i went as it was out of season and dead quiet.

You can go down with a racing driver - THE. MOST. ADRENALINE. EVER!!!! I thought bikes had pretty much made me deal with high adrenaline but I could barely talk for 15 minutes after that run!! LOL

Off the 500 is a place called Oppenau, the road in and out is awesome.
As for the todtnau luge, did it a few times, last run sans freins. You have to hang onto the sides REALLY hard as iirc its 2g in places.

Well..I've fcuked right up. All the mountain passes are shut, big bollox. Riding up Klausenn pass earlier, fantastic views, shit weather and a barrier. Not opening for another 4 days weather permitting. This pass was going to lead me to Sustan, grimsell and furka. Grimsell shut until 24th, similar furka.

Got to have rethink on my routes now. Bloody nightmare tbh. Stopping in some dormitory tonight, got it to myself mind, halfway up Klausenn pass, bit like prison cell but food and beer sold.

Riding through Zurich earlier kept me awake, avoiding trams and folk crossing the rode. Pissing down aswel. Riding on the right is the easy bit, its following a satnav that's got itself lost is harder. Reading speed limits ain't easy. I've found cruise control useful for once, keep near limits.

Got a few pic's but it's all a bit damp and cloudy. Views are stunning though.

Even in shitty weather it looks stunning.

I've just got back yesterday from a week bimbling around northern Italy on a rented bike so am planning to do a little report on it, but it can wait for another day as I've had a long (but good) day on the lanes on the orange bike today , am fecked, and can't be arsed tonight.....

New day and new ideas, and what a day it has been.

Didn’t sleep very well, but up for breakfast and Google maps. Rode back up they way I'd come ( road closure) and kind of looped around and down further east. Switzerland a nightmare, roads closed and no data.

Followed route to Lake Como, only 4.5 hrs , no motorway or toll. What a fantastic road. Road number was 3 and took me on some amazing roads. Views were superb. Took me on the Julier pass, high and snowy, but roads open. Through Chur and Silverplana Chiavenna and Como.

Hot and sunny, tent tonight 100yrd from lake. Pizza and beer underway. Might have 2 days here, rest from bike, leave tent up and they let you use their pushbikes to pedal the track next to Lake.

That's EPIC... i'm actually envious !!!!

Where you staying? i was up the north what has a nice cheap campsite. Camping Madonna at Domaso. Camping is behind the white building and it has a cheap nice restaurant. They rent rooms also. The biggest problem on a bike is no fridge, so if you buy a 12 pack you have to drink it all!! I did, then fell asleep with my feet sticking out of the tent snoring very loudly. The nice lady next door was not impressed!,
