Well I got it totally wrong folks.
When I saw "Rev To The Limit" I assumed this was a bikers' forum, silly me, it's for sewing machine enthusiasts, how fast can you run up a double bed duvet ?
When I posted "please stop them putting a 40 mph speed limit on a nice safe rural road" I knew a load of bikers would be outraged and duly protest. Bikers would never support speed limits of any kind. Bikers apply the appropriate speed at all times.
So get back to that duvet, sorry I disturbed you all. If I caused any of you to miss The Great British Sewing Bee, fear not, you can catch up on iPlayer.
The issue is that we're perfectly happy to ride like twats when and where it's called for - but we don't tend to appreciate it when other bikers ride like twats when the situation is not suitable, thus "queering the pitch" for us because it causes the rest of the population to notice us and start putting restrictions like this in place.
If there'd been no accidents and no loud-n-fast bikes tearing the road up ( (c) DailyMail) then there'd be nothing about the road for the local residents to complain about.

Really? So when suggested that you to check the crash stats if you wanted any chance of fighting it, that was too much work and you CBA. Now it's 'more like it'? Make your mind up.

Yes, based on what you have already said. "No such thing as a dangerous bend" seems to fit with "no such thing as an accident", an often quoted view if you delve deeply enough into "accident".

Speed limits will be dropping all over the place, over the coming months. Plod will be getting more speed gun time. All that furlough money has to be pulled back ye know, and the motorist is a great place to start.

That was before you pointed me at CrashMap. You cost me £4.
But I'll keep saying this "bikers should oppose excessive speed limits" which hits many people for the crimes of a few, it's not justice.

@hilldweller Didn't you ever venture into staying alive on TRC? !!
Ah, the forum that died.
I was introduced to it by Yorick as "it's a bit dead but worth a look".
He was right, he didn't say it was terminal though.
I've not had my money's worth here yet but it's looking like a place where if you don't say exactly what a clique want you to say they jump in big time.

You then got a sensible explanation of how to set your speed for a bend, regardless of what the limit says.
And that is part of my exasperation. I made no comment about my riding.
Imagine mine then. I made no comment about your riding either.
I made a general comment on a nasty bend that has recorded many accidents yet all of a sudden I am being lectured on how to ride/drive.
Nope. I didn't say ANYTHING about how you ride or drive, or even how you SHOULD ride or drive.
What I picked up on was your statement about bends being 'sneaky and dangerous'. As I said, they're neither, they simply 'are'.
Your comment: "I'm not writing a crash investigations" pretty much sums up why bikers have been crashing on the same bends since Gottfried Daimler first stuck a motor between two wheels".
You completely take this out of context.
Nope, my reply was fully in context with the statements in your original post - that's why I itemised the points to which I replied...
Of course, you can try the shifting sands approach if you want.

LOL... but explaining how we can cut out some of the same-old, same-old crashes on corners is somehow criticising the OP's riding

I think it's all down to interpretation...To some, the nasty L/h bend has been the cause of a lot of serious accidents, but to others, the nasty bend hasn't pushed anyone of their bike.

Is that because I quoted from a publicly-available report?
I do not, and never have, work for TRRL.

My mistake, I was sure someone said that you had a hand in a TRRL report.

You can say what you like!

But this is the Internet, you need to be prepared to defend what you say.
