I’d forgotten about Maidstone Motoliner, they have an excellent rep.
A rep which continues... Just spoke to them, they reckon they can build up the frame and insert some new threads for the foot pegs to mount to. No availability for a few months but that gives me time to clear and clean the area around the frame. He reckons about £150-£170 plus VAT but he hasn't seen the bike in the flesh so could be slightly more.
Feeling a bit more optimistic about this now.
Make sure everything electronic is disconnected or removed from the frame before welding, lest bad things happen.
Only if leccy welding.

I'm wondering how this theft will affect my insurance renewals this year.
I reported the theft to the police as soon as I knew about it. Checked my policy to find out I wasn't covered for theft so then proceeded to cancel my policy - I didn't say why I was cancelling.
The tax was due for renewal last November (four months after the theft, three months after plod had returned the bike to me) and has been SORNed since the renewal.
I didn't make a claim for the theft but am aware it could come down to the wording of the question, i.e. theft v claim.
Any thoughts?

I think the real difficulty about getting insured is if the insurance company themselves cancel a policy for any reason. I can't see what you describe being a problem.

The insurance COs are only worried about what has actually involved them so they can make risk adjustments. I wouldn't worry about anything else. I never told them about my X-ADV theft.

The fact that you've had a bike stolen means that your risk profile will have changed. I've not read the small print in your quote/policy though.

They don't know about it as I didn't claim.

Which is my concern. Whilst I didn't claim (nor did I tell them I was cancelling because the bike was stolen), the theft is recorded on the police database and, I assume, DVLA, meaning an insurer can easily find out about it.
I'm fairly sure I'm going to have to bend over.

Bollocks. Big sweaty bollocks.
Every theft eh?
Tell them someone stole a sticker from the bike. About 50 times.
And stole handlebar tassles. 50 times.
Dust caps ditto.
And slip in somewhere that the bike was stolen. They won't notice that one.

It's fecking annoying. I understand my risk profile has changed for the worse but it does have a 'cake and eat it feel', for instance, when insurance companies won't allow NCB earned to be used as a benchmark across multiple policies.
Anyhoo, I'm going to mention it, would be far worse to have them cancel the policy for non-disclosure.

Just run through a new quote on Compare The Market. This is what the website actually says:

- CTMScreenshot 2023-02-01 103819.png (33.87 KiB) Viewed 1074 times
Technically I've not had a theft loss because I got the bike bag... :whistles:
Including the theft but no loss of NCB gives me an annual premium of £373 (2015 MT-09, value £5k, FC, 2 years NCB, additional rider who only passed test last year, SDP&C, 10k miles).
Removing the theft reduces it by £130.

Anyone know if an HPI check is based on the same databases that insurers check?

Agreed, the quality is such that is very hard to tell it's a repair and not an original casting.
Can't speak highly enough on the service from Motoliner too - under promise and over deliver springs to mind. When I dropped the bike off they said they'd give it a go but cautioned me that it was a large area needing to be built up and would take some time. Even then they didn't say outright that they could the job. I told them I was in no rush to get it back but I would need a few days notice to arrange transport for it. 2 hours later I get a call telling me it was finished. Ironically, the costs of recovery and repair combined was less than my excess on the insurance policy too.
