Met Alex ‘Hurricane’ Higgins when he was on the slide down. He was on a train to Manchester having played a few local halls to get some money. He was sat on the floor in between the carriages trying to avoid the ticket collector. He smelled of a few beers. The collector didn’t miss him. He asked him for his ticket. No ticket, asked him for money. No money. I gave Alex £2.50 and got a grunt in return.

Sad to see one of your heroes in such a bad way. The end wasn’t too far off.

Lawson, Dan Gurney, Bill Huth (owned Willow), Rainey & a couple of other guys at a table in the bar up but Turn #4.
Lawson (being massaged & getting a neck rub by a pneumatic blonde) "Is this your wife?" :?
Me: "Actually it's my ex-wifes, bosses wife" 8-)
Lawson: Daaayum :wtf:

The missus loved it as she was the plus 1 and love everything royal so when he did the meet and greet after she was on cloud nine when he had a chat (you would never guess from the photo) and she managed to blag some shortbread from the royal kitchen for the oldies at her care home ;)

Eddie Lawson was at the Stafford Classic Bike show about 10 years ago and I took two large B/W prints of shots I'd taken of him on the works Yam at Silverstone in 1985 to the show - one for him to keep and one for him to sign for me to keep. He was very appreciative and is definitely one cool dude.

He can be quite a funny fucker at times. He autographed my ZRX about 20 years ago & said "That's just cut the value of you bike in half".
A while later I was in the pits & a friend spotted it "wow that's made your bike more valuable"
Me: That's not was Eddie said....

He has a very dry wit... I was photographing the 1985 Silvestone GP for Superbike Magazine and the weather for race day was appalling - relentless sideways rain. It was so bad it fucked up the motor drive on one of my Nikons. Freddie Spencer won the race and Eddie was a never quite in touch 2nd. At the post race debrief in the press office Freddie thanked the world, their wives and all his sponsors and then Chris Carter turned his attention to Eddie.

CC: Well Eddie, I suppose that race gives the lie to the old assertion that Americans can't race in the wet?

Eddie: Yeah. Us Americans are shit in the wet.

And that was all he said... :D

What does that mean? Or is "Micheal is a year" a typo? (Well, two typos if you include the misspelt "Michael". ;) )

Nope, not a single one, my only claim to fame is standing about 3ft from Big Ben when it struck 10 o'clock in the morning and having a guided tour of the guts of parliament when I was working there as a contractor for a few days in the early 90's.
"Of all the stories you told me, which ones were true and which ones weren't?"
"My dear Doctor, they're all true."
"Even the lies?"
"Especially the lies."

I fixed John Birt's computer towards the end of his BBC DG job, if I'd made a copy of his interesting address book then I'd probably have had Boris Johnson's phone number.
