Saw Robert “Micro” Dunlop in a van at the Steam Packet race. Wished him well and shook what was left of his hand.

Pretty difficult NOT to have them in LA.
As for the UK:
8yo, crabbing off a breakwater at Walton on Naze. Some bloke came over to see what I'd caught. It was Guy Hamilton taking a day off from filming BoB at Dx. I think he was actually hitting on my mother..
Taking the tube home late one night in London, the only other three people in the carriage were Compo, Clegg & Foggy which was about as surreal as it gets. We chatted.
Taking a piss behind a tree on Midsummer Common in Cambridge one afternoon after a lunch time beer session & stepped right in front of Princess Edward on his bicycle. Didn't notice who it was at first as there was suddenly someone else making his presence known who was apparently his security bloke on another bike as we picked ourselves up. There was almost a kerfuffle.
Bill Wyman was just about my neighbor in Suffolk, saw him a round quite a bit & he sat in with a band at the local boozer a few times.
Mate restored cars for Amshul Rothschild, I'd see him at the shop quite often, we'd talk cars & aircraft.
Brands Hatch, walked right past the riders everyone was getting autographs from & got one from Pops Yoshimura instead

Actually, just remembered a genuine one. At sixth form I did stage lighting and other techie stuff at the college and local theatre.

One evening Peter Cushing was doing a one man show. Afterwards, spent half an hour chatting while waiting for a train. No showbiz stuff, just chat.

In 1974 I was catching the London train from Crewe station. It was very crowded; I found myself in a last-minute rush for the one remaining seat beside a tall, good-looking man with collar-length hair, it was the seventies. I looked up and saw it was none other than Peter Purves, it was the height of his Blue Peter career. He said, "You jammy bastard" and quick as a flash, I replied, "Don't be blue, Peter!" Needless to say, I had the last laugh.

In 1998 me and the missus were on the VIP gate at the Day of Champions at Donny MotoGP.

All the stars had to show their VIP pass to us. I knew them all, but she didn't know the old ones.
I had to give her a few nudges.

All the current racers and champion and a few legends such as Surtees, Read, Roberts Snr, Mamola etc.

They all had time for a quick chat.
I was seriously star struck that day.

I don't have many regrets, but a minor one is being in a restaurant after an event. The event was the Surtees day at Brands and the restaurant was full of 'names'. The regret is not getting everyone to autograph the event programme. Surtees, Agostini, etc.

And saw the pope on his boat in Paris

To be honest, kept it for a while, then probably have flogged it. There's been one occasion since when every little would have been useful.

Got drunk in a bar in Vila Real (Portugal) with Joey Dunlop. Next day he went out and won the F1 race and I had a stinking hangover.

Went to the pub with Joe Jackson and had a very interesting chat (Joe doing the talking, obvs)

Went backstage at an Ian Dury & the Blockheads gig and gave Ian a couple of my photos of him. He was charming.

Was on first name terms with Adam Freeland, Tayo and Evil Nine during the early noughties breakbeat era.

Went backstage to chat with Martha and the Muffins (Echo Beach) and tried not to ogle too much at the blonde Martha.

Watching 'the end' concert at o2 in londinium. me and me bruv with a pint in hand chatting to a half bald dude on his own. Realised on the way home to pompey twas a certain prince of the realm

In the early 80’s Geoff Capes lived next door but one to us, his daughter is the same age as me and we were in the same class at primary school. He would often drive us to school.
There was quiet often other athletes and strongman competitors visiting. He appeared on a programme with John Noakes who took us for a ride in his Morris convertible, and yes Shep was with him.

I also attended school with a lad by the name of Russel Slaney, was good friends with him, his dad became British Olympic Tae Kwondo coach, while his uncle married Mary Decker who I met not long after her Zola Budd incident.

I know both Micheal and Robert Whittaker from the horse world as my step daughter quite often competes in the same classes as them. Robert is a nice bloke, Micheal is a year!
