Amazon themselves have been having some issues recently i think.Count Steer wrote: Thu Jun 19, 2025 6:56 amMe too. Not had that before but there's a few odd things going on with Amazon's systems at the moment. eg tried to get into my account details and got 'web page not found'Sunny wrote: Wed Jun 18, 2025 11:24 pm I had to re-verify my payment method for it for some reason this morning![]()
Also got impending delivery/download in my email. Deleted it as it had already arrived. Message appeared again. Repeat several times through the day.
Today I'm getting an 'Expected today' message for something that arrived 3 days ago.

Re: Author! Author!
Finished this today - read it over the last few days by the pool - & thoroughly enjoyed it.
I’ll describe it as a Carl Hiaasen story set in SE London, which I mean as a compliment

I have to admit, I've never even heard of Mr Hiaasen, but I need a new book in a couple of days, so will try one. Any recommendations?

I think you might like him. I read them in order so you might want to start with Tourist Season, but Native tongue was probably a favourite. Sick Puppy’s good, too.Slenver wrote: Sun Aug 03, 2025 5:42 pm I have to admit, I've never even heard of Mr Hiaasen, but I need a new book in a couple of days, so will try one. Any recommendations?

Don't feel guilty! A sale is a sale! With KU we still get paid, it's just not very much and it's per page, so you have to get to the end! Re: Author! Author!
I finished reading today.
For context,my lifelong reading mojo has been broken and spluttering intermittently for some years now,yet I read this in just a few sittings.
Great 'fleshed out' characters and a neatly interwoven plot. I always judge a good book if I lose myself in the reading and stop being aware I'm reading a story someone has written. The process then becomes an organic absorption of the characters and the tale.
A good yarn Dan and something to be rightly proud of. Much enjoyed.

It really is very kind of so many of you to read it, y'know. Hugely appreciated
Re: Author! Author!
And by the way, I don't feel in much of a position to ask for favours seeing as how several of you have literally spent money on my book, but if anyone does read it and enjoy it, a quick review (or just tap a star rating even) on Amazon (or anywhere else) goes a long way to generating more interest.
It's so hard to persuade people to buy a book from someone they've never heard of, but a load of positive reviews are what can persuade people to take a chance
Begging over, carry on

Finished it a couple of weeks ago and realised I forgot to review it.
It's good.

Well written, definitely some recognisable characters, with laugh out loud moments and a clean finish.

I've saved it for my holiday read, so I will read it next week. I shall also hawk it to my fellow campers at every opportunity. Expect a dramatic sales uplift in the coming weeks!

And quick question... did you get the bit about the cat? Don't have to give any spoilers here, but I find it's about 50% of readers
