That was the most common mistake I saw on track when instructing. Often I'd go alongside and tap their arm

Yup muscle memory for me of being off the bike for so many bloody months. In a week or 2 I'll be back to normal but riding like a numpty at the min and all my muscles are shot from doing fark all over winter. My core muscles were really strong when I rode all year now they are budda like

I don't know if it was a different mindset, different riding style or what... but i could quite easily use this whenever... and it saves me spending £6000 on a new bike

It could still do with a battery, but as it gets used to rarely i'm not sure i care much lol. It just won't last months and months without a charge now, but weeks, yeah that's OK.
So it's on charge this morning as on the 17th July it's getting an outing at Silverstone with Mrs Weeksy.

I need to go through and do a bolt check this weekend as well as potentially a quick run round the block on it, sort out tools, check warmers are functioning, get some fuel for the jerry can and brim the tank on it. Other than that, i think we're good to roll.

Went to take it out for fuel.... dead as a proverbial dodo..

Quick trip to Premier Bikes KTM and a new Yuasa is in and fitted.... Vroom, starts on the button again.

Well we've owned it 5 years, we've never put a battery on it....so hard to grumble.

Oh bunch of arse... I turned around after finishing the job and found the battery rubber retaining strap on the workbench.

20 mins last night trying to get the bugger to clip-onto it's mount points, no joy..

So battery back off this morning to sort. I should have done it last night but with the short bolts, the extra connectors for the QS power and the charger, meant it was a complete little sod trying to get the bolt to tighten on the stupid little nut thing... But it's all done now.

Grabbed all the tie-dows, warmers, tools, spares, stuff... Table, chairs.... I do need to grab the wifes leathers and kit out of the garage loft still.

Cut 10mm off the end of a zip-tie.

Fold it in half.

Wedge it under the nut in the battery terminal.

It works as a spring pushing up the square nut thingy, makes it a million times easier to get the bolt started if its marginally short.

On the track R6 the previous owner had used fish tank like clear pipe to do the same, made things so much easier. Never got round to doing the same on my road bikes cos I'm a lazy sod.

The beast flew round Silverstone like a dream all day. Unlike a few other bikes which had some terminal issues.
Brakes were super with new discs.

Mrs Weeksy was on fire and looking great out there, more overtaking than usual, which considering she's not sat on a bike since Pembrey last Aug, is impressive.

Silverstone again on Monday coming. I must admit, after we got back from Pembrey I put it back under cover and I've not seen it again yet. I'll get it out on Sat for a run to check it over.

Both of these things are fucking genius. And would have saved me about two hours of dicking around a couple of weeks back when one of those stupid nuts on my new toy managed to escape into an almost entirely un-get-into-able part of the frame. I very much lost my sense of humour

I've also put sellotape round the gap the nuts slots into to stop them falling out before after the same happened to me on my brand new 690

I always put cable ties under the terminals and a fat strip of tape around a battery to make a handle. Might not even be necessary a lot of the time, it's just habit now.
