Got the stud out of the extractor. Pipe vice grips. Sorted. Gave a weak attempt at one of the studs, but there is not much material to grab. I''ve sprayed them again and will try again later on or tomorrow. Only 4 studs to get out, and hopefully none of them snap....
Bought a butane torch to heat the studs up, maybe that will help. I'll even wear gloves (leather ones too). Guess I will have to drain that radiator now and get it off and I need more access to the engine.

Fan and radiator off. Badly rusted fan shroud. May need to replace that.
Studs really are bad. I'll have to rewire the indicators as well. Tank off job for that as well. This is all mounting up to be a big job (not like it was ever a small job anyhow). So I may as well replace the throttle cables with new longer ones as well thanks to the bar risers.

5 studs are now out. Just the one remaining that is resisting all efforts. It is starting to round off with the extractor I am using, so looks like I somehow need to get a nut welded on there. Problem is that the bike is in pieces and I really don't want to drop the engine to get the head off.
What suggestions? I've used a little blow torch (butane gas one) to head it and sprayed it with assorted lubricants/releasing agents. I've given it a tap with a hammer to loosen the thread. I've also rocked it tighter/looser and no movement.
So close!!

Blaster Spray, Plusgas and a little Creme Brulee torch thingy. Extractor looks like a drill bit end that you wind onto the stud and then wind off. It has been very good on 5 of them! This stud is a bit to worn for it to grip properly.

Victory is mine! Sacrificed a stud extractor and hammered it on, wound it out and job done!

New studs with lots of copperslip and new copper exhaust gaskets to be put on at some point. Very pleased. Now I can also put on the connectors for the indicators and all will be ready for that MOT I need to book after re-insuring the bike.

Hhahahahahaha. I've just insured it from 1/5/23! £158 FC and I'm happy with that. So I'm looking forward to riding it again as it will be quieter (no more blowing exhaust!) Just need to sort indicators now. Have new connectors as well.
Pictures later on. I've got some Priest work to do now. But so pleased I got this finished.

New connectors for indicators. Will solder them and heatshrink (already added). That is a job for another day. I've got two OEM indicators for rear of the bike. That will make a lovely difference.

Need to do a bit of painting to protect the engine cases. I've got the right high temp paint, so that will be easy to sort. Used it on the BMW as well, good stuff it is.
Curry night is calling, so beer and food for me, Saturday I might get a chance to look at the bike again.

Old exhaust gaskets. Yes that explains why it was blowing, nevermind that only two studs had nuts on them!

May be obvious, but get in to the gasket surfaces with a wire brush and get all the deposits away, so the new gaskets don't go the same as that old one.
