I think the English channel has a lot to do with that.

It adds time and money to a journey to somewhere hot and cheap so Brits are more likely to fly to a Spanish or Greek island instead of driving or the train to Southern Europe like people on the continent tend to do.

Opening soon!

https://www.hardrockcafe.com/location/york/

I know they're no every ones cup of tea, but I loves a Hard Rock (I'm sure that's going to get mis-quoted). I've been in 16 different ones, iirc.

That one is practically on my door step!

I don't need a menu and the price doesn't matter... A full rack of ribs and a Long Island Iced Tea (or three).

They sure know how to make a proper Long Island.

The two in Sharm were a little disappointing, they didn't do ribs in Islamic countries, I had to have lamb chops :(

We went to the one at Niagra Falls. Was really cool, in a trashy American way :)

I always used to love me a Pig Sandwich*, but that was back in the day when you just didn't get American BBQ in the UK. You do now, and, well, the HRC (ha!) one just ain't all that IMO.

London has some pretty impressive gear though. The one in Orlando (the biggest/formerly the biggest) also has loads of cool stuff.

Not been to one in nearly 10 years though now I think on it! From memory I've done London, Orlando, New York, San Francisco, Toronto, Nottingham and Barcelona.

My rents have got a massive board of HRC guitar fridge magnets. They're pretty stereotypical tourists

*Which IIRC isn't actually called that any more.

I spent 4 months working in Canada in 1999 and loads of family there.
