This bit doesn't sit right with me.

BOUGHT THIS BIKE DIRECLTY FROM FOCUSED EVENTS, WHO USED IT AS A TRAINING BIKE IN THE NOVICE CLASS FOR THIER TRACK DAYS, THEY BOUGHT IT DIRECT FROM KAWASAKI FOR THIS PURPOSE, SO THERE IS NO V5, HOWEVER ALL NUMBERS ARE PRESENT ON THE SIDE OF THE FRAME (EGINE AND FRAME NUMBERS)

Nah I'm cool with it and after a long chat I'm happy it is what he says. I'm not sure at this stage whether she'll go for it anyway

FLy by wire is full electronics yeah and didn't really come into the game until 16-17. It only came in on the R6 in 19 for the 600 class and 20 models of the ZX6R have the full up and down, but nothing before. Any of these are coming in at £9,000+ so a big chunk more and only 1 of the extra functionality.

With the ZX6 above she gets lower miles, QS, traction, rearsets, brake master cylinder, GB Racing engine covers and a 5 years newer bike. On top of that though it's the 636 engine with more torque and more midrange. But loses out on it potentially being immaculate, a road bike and 'fully known' to us. But it's only £2000. We were going to spend the best part of £500 on a QS for hers along with brake fluid swap and coolant swapping, so essentially puts us at £1500 to swap.

My job is only to have the options though not to make the decisions on these things. It's not my bike and not mine to ride so essentially speaking it's irrelevant to me.

Yeah not sure if that's a particularly tricky one on these models to resolve. But a good point.

IIRC it's about £300 for a spare GSXR key as it has the immobiliser in. No way you will go to Portimao with only 1 key.

Take away the electronics from the discussion and just looking at the bike i see a couple of issues with Mrs Weeksy taking to that bike. It has rearsets which are going to be higher and further back than she is used to and it has a track seat unit with a piece of foam as a seat as opposed to a "proper" seat which again she is used to.

The fancy electronics might make it a better track weapon but the change in riding position and possibly being uncomfortable on the bike might compromise all of the potential advantages. My B1 636 had the minimal track style seat on it which i didnt mind at all but others who had ridden the C models hated it as the C had a "proper" everyday riders seat

I could be wrong but i would hate for it not to be considered and then find out later the first time she rides it

I get you completely, it's something to consider that's for certain... There's also minor things like the fact it's clearly been on the floor at least once, there's a few bits that without doubt need some TLC and polish throwing at them, but essentially, it's a 2015 ZX6R. Which can't be a bad thing :)

It's priced well for what it is and the PX deal works well enough for us... but.... whether we'll go for it, i wouldn't like to say at the moment. I'm trying to stay as objective as possible. If it were my choice we'd have an 899 Panigale in there :)

Don't like them and she would hate it for sure. Too much go and too much cash. She doesn't want 190+ horses but I think 130-140 could be the sweet spot. My 848 was awesome now I think back about it. But expensive service costs wiped that out.

Pretty much that IMO- she loves the current one, it's tip-top nick, and is a pretty and unusual colour to boot- I would personally like the extra punch of the 636, but I'm not sure I'd swap the lovely " straight and unabused roadbike-ness" of the white one for that particular example, even if it were for me but, it's irrelevant, as I'm not her.

Unless Ceri has a desire to change, I definitely wouldn't even be considering it, but I know that's not how you work! :lol:

Auto blippers aren’t only on fly by wire bikes, they can be activated in the ecu on many including zx10’s but they need a 2 way qs unit installing. Not sure if the zx636 has the facility in the ecu though.

Well yes, you can technically get blippers but they're not the same technology

DBS make one, but it's like the QS and needs aftermarket hardware installation rather than ECU based like say my XSR 900. It's also £1500 which is just bonkers

I don't see them as the same thing really

On the one hand thats a fairly neat way of doing it (they put an actuator where the idle adjustment screw is)....on the other hand, I'm not sure I'd want some random 3rd party stuff controlling the throttle!

At least when you've got the stock Kawasaki fly by wire its been through all their reliability testing. After market QSs can generally only take power away, not add it.
