The screen is better than the Yamaha one. There is still turbulence around my lid but not as bad and I can now ride with the visor on the first click without the windblast making my eyes water. So, I guess it's a win on the function side. Not sure of the looks of it though, but I suppose ill get used to that?!

Gave it a wash. It’s like new underneath the layers of dirt and salt. It’s a crime to commute on something like this in the winter months. In reality I’ll probably not have it next winter but if I do I think a winter hack will be in order.

At least your two bikes are saved from the ravages of our winters. Seriously, it's a crying shame to subject a bike to that. Its why I normally have old shitters! :D

Yeah my bro went out yesterday and was urging me to get out. But with 0.2 miles on the clock and the bike being absolutely showroom fresh it's a mental challenge to want the first ride to be a damp wobble round. I'm hoping for a mild sunny wobble round

I waited on the 690 till the weather was stable and decent and my first ever ride on it was an 80 mile loop via Thaxted/Saffron Walden and I think it really cemented that love for the bike.

Just shows how filthy my bike was, my wife came in from work yesterday and saw my bike in the garden and said, I can see what you've been doing today, putting new wheels on your bike! :?

Well, I think it's time to admit that, whilst it's a cracking bike, it's probably not for me. I've not put it up for sale yet, but I suspect it will be shortly? The quest continues...

Eh?! I'm with everyone else here - I thought you'd decided it was the bike for you (except for storage) ?

It is a cracking bike, but it does have limitations for me. Like I say its not up for sale yet, because I honestly don't know what i'd replace it with? Maybe the original idea of a scoot to use alongside it is a good idea? I do miss an auto when in heavy traffic, which is most days!

What's the limitations then/though ?

With the amount you ride outside of commuting, i don't see any point having 2...

Sure get a scoot, but for me, i'd get a proper/decent one, not the scrapper SH300i's you seem to go for.

Get one of those fangled transformer Honda things or something.

Indeed I have. But personally i'd be getting sick of buying either shit or inappropriate machines by now. He wants an Auto, he wants leg room, storage, reliability and fuel economy. Instead of fucking about buying the cheapest scoot possible, or a machine that's unlikely to work, i'd buy a decent example of the bike that actually will work... even if it's more expensive.

Limitations as a year-round London commuter?

No weather protection, no storage, pig to clean, not particularly economical on fuel, not auto, stealable etc. Sounds like TP thinks it runs out of steam on fast A roads too, which is a bit of a surprise.

So, a decent scoot probably is the answer.

Having said that, the young chap at the local Screwfix comes in on his MT07 every day but it's a rural commute and the bike was completely white recently...with salt. :(
