Still not got round to getting the wheel painted at the moment. I think it'll wait until winter now in all hoensty.

Less than 4 weeks to go for Donny for her, just picked up S21s for the bike, which will go on at lunchtime on the day as we'll class the current tyre as done for road use. I'll see if Crust wants that as a pair for his Monster 900, plenty of road miles in them.
I'm curious to see if the S21 makes it to the end of the day for her, we've not really gone down the less track based rubber for quite a long time, although we did on the old green ZX6R when i fitted Pilot Roads and i don't think she even noticed, but general preference has been for super sticky stuff that is IMO anyway, quite tempremental and very sensitive to pressures, 24 on the rear hot can be good, but 23 can be rubbish, 25 can be rubbish... whereas with something like an S21, set to about 30psi cold and forget about it for 5 days riding... However, if she doesn't like them we've got more sticky rubber we'll have with us.

It's a shame she's not really had a chance to come to terms with the Quickshifter yet, between the weather and the Covid rules, it's been a crap time for trackdays up to now.

Meant to ask how she got on with the quick-shifter, hopefully, it'll be nice and dry at Donington , I still predict she'll love it once she gets used to just keeping it pinned.
I'm making a doubleheader of it- heading on up to Horncastle for the night from Donington for Cadwell the next day with big Kev- he's certainly planning to make up for lost time this year

It's Donington GP on Monday for the wife and the ZX6R along with @Tricky and @2xtwins

They're all doing an overnighter on the night before, i've got my lad so i'm coming up in the morning.

As with often, the ZX6R hasn't moved now since Silverstone about 6 weeks ago, so i fired it up today and took it for a 4-5 mile spin. I always do it, just to make sure nothing is wrong, no fuelling issues etc or starting/running problems. This way we at least have time to come up with plan B if that did happen. As usual, no issues.

The gearbox with the QS on this thing is ridiculous ! Just smooth beyond words.... you barely feel the lever move and it just snicks up into the next gear, it's really next level of smoothness. Other than that, well, it's a ZX6R... that's it :)

The one main thing it would benefit from though is a quick action throttle, it's a long way from off to full throttle on this thing that's for sure.

Pretty sure I've still got the Domino one and cables from my trusty old ZX10 , I took it off when I put it back to standard before I sold it- will have a look for it at the weekend and chuck it in the van if I can find it- dunno if it will fit the 6 but you/Ceri are welcome to have it

That'd be ace mate. I've pinged Greedy at MSG racing to ask him what he recommends too. But he may also know if it'll fit..

I think I did notice too is how much easier it is on the XSR in terms of grunt, even though similar in power to the zx6. I've been harping on about it to the wife and how she should try the 765 lol. So it's your job to persuade her to try the naked. But it does also reaffirm my thoughts on the MV F800 as a potential option too.

That's good to know. Kawasaki gearboxes are not the most robust or smooth pieces of kit and I'd be very loathe to provoke any undue wear.

S21 30psi cold ? Wouldn’t that be better hot ? Other than that a much better tyre for her pace

I have the throttle lag on mine sometimes.
It's better with full fat fuel. And on this trip, it's ok with different fuels, but can't remember what I put in today :(

Also loose chain has same effect.

I've generally sent them to that cold. Never had any issues.

I've always set tyres cold. No mistakes.

Hot could be hot, nearly hot, a bit warm, 3 fast laps. I was told ambient temp is best way.

But ambient temp here right now is 30c :banana-dance:

On my R6 I used to set the pressures to 28 to 30 cold when I was using 016s and that worked a treated.

Was always told 30 hot or 27-28 cold for road tyres on track 👍

30 cold could be as high as 34 got which would feel a stiff tyre

Hmmm just found 2 sets of lightly worn Sportsmart TTs in the loft.

So debating between S21s or Sportsmart TTs

The bike as always was faultless yesterday. As per the other post we had an issue when we took off the 213GP rear and swapped it for a Sportsmart TT, it was part worn and from a buddy, but it exploded on the compressor, BOOM, it was dead.
Happily, Holbeach had another tyre in stock so we broke out the wallet and bought a brand new rear.

Mrs Weeksy loved the Sportsmarts and said they feel amazing. We were running 27hot on the rear and 34 hot on the front as per recommendation from Holbeach. 2 sessions in and it felt superb.

This morning the bike got a fairing off clean before starting work, along with mechanical check like chain tension, brake pads, oil levels etc, with a bit more cleaning all round too. It still needs a bit of a polish to complete it later, but i'll do that tonight/tomorrow.

Based upon our discussions yesterday i don't see this being sold.... possibly EVER lol. So over winter it'll get either a new rear shock and a fork service, or possibly just a service on the standard shock and a fork service.

There's also another VERY interesting update but that's for Mrs Weeksy to divulge the information, not me LOL.

Big Kawasaki fan here. Great thread

Only ever ridden a zx6r once and thought it was a nice bike. Only other 600’ish was the Versys.

Nice to see it’s not green anyway. I believe they did the 2008/09 ZX10R in a similar colour scheme.

I had a ZX6R for 2 days. I blew it up second day, so took it back and bought a ZX9R instead.

HAd a quick ride on the ZX6R on Weds... Welsh Muffin has Silverstone on Tues. (I had the option of a space but it adds £350 to the day price and with my lads birthday and MTB racing it's been an expensive month).

As it's always 4-6 weeks between rides i do like to take the ZX6R out for 5 mins just to test it out. It was as you'd expect 'Japanese'.. Started on the button, went forwards, stopped and turned exactly how you'd expect.

Sadly for us it's looking entirely possible that after days of 30+deg it may well be wet... Which is a proper shit show and a shame for her and the lads.
