Well, I hope it fucking gets better.
My lad's girlfriend bought him a brand new ADV 350 for crimbo. He wanted to take it home today so I said I'd follow him. Weather was shit, I'm used to it, he's not. He only bloody came off on a greasy wet bend!!! luckily slow'ish speed, pride damaged and lots of plastic on the scooter as well. Going to cost a few quid no doubt.
He's absolutely gutted. I saw it happening, I actually said in my helmet 'too fast' as he was approaching it. Nothing I could do unfortunately.
So, it better start shaping up!!!!!
My first crash was the best thing that happened to me in many ways. It taught me how easy it can go wrong and how expensive that can be! Glad he's okay and gets it sorted as cheaply as he can.

There were a couple of positives in 2023, I'd like a few more in 2024 - but as the universe generally seems to have it's baseball bat swinging for me most of the time, I'll just cross my fingers and keep on keeping on!!

Lap of the Gods at the moment, innit? It looks like we'll be visiting the Philippines to see the rellies at some point, I'll be making 2 or 3 (possibly more) trips to the gaff in France and we're seriously thinking about doing the Bearded Theory music festival. In between those things will undoubtedly be a lot of mundane, boring stuff but I can live with that.

Gonna be super busy with lots going on at work, but in a very good way. New buildings, new customers, new technology. Profit!
Also got our first proper foreign holidays with Baby D.
Picked up me ol' 6 string for the first time in ages yesterday too. Kids have a habit of becoming your only hobby when they're young right? Might even strap the snowboard on too later this year.

I'd be surprised if we didn't lose one or two of our elderly dependants this year. M-i-L is 93 with dementia and its kicking in now. My Step dad is 86 and strong in mind, but increasingly weak in body and really starting to struggle with his mobility and his COPD. Both very nice people and they'll be sorely missed, but I think if I'm brutally honest i'd rather they went as they are now, with dignity, than deteriorating further and having to bring carers in etc.
Apart from that, I'm glad to have survived another year and look forward, in the main, to see what this one brings!
We’re also reaching the age where our parents are a lot less independent. I’m the same as you - when it’s their time I’d rather they went quickly with dignity. In much the same way as I would want to,

I've just heard one of the classic bunch I've done a few runs with last Summer died last night from cancer. He and his missus were lovely, gentle folk and very easy to talk to,part of the furniture in Carnlough harbour on a Sunday. He was so proud of resurrecting his 250 triple.
Ride free Trevor.

I'll live each day to the full.
I'll be thankful I have each day to live.
I'll treat others with love, respect and help where I can.
I'll continue in the faith I profess to hold.

I'll try and post a meaningful answer in 5 or 6 months.
I'm being serious BTW. I'm well aware of how quickly things can change and I both want and need for change(s) but even if they happen, there's no guarantee they'll make life better.
Sorry to be a bit negative. Things are not too bad at the moment so could get better or worse.

2024 hasn't started too well. On day one I broke a tooth. I hope that's the worst thing that happens this year.
