I sold my well sorted 10R for less than £4k and if you can't have fun on that on a sunny Sunday,then there's no help forya.


You'll also pick up some smaller capacity classic strokers for under £5k if you shop around.

It wasn't so long ago my bike buying budget was topped out around 4k and I've had some nice bikes. £5k is well doable.

Yeah that's definitely a winner, I've always wanted one, I remember talking to Irie, he has two (or three I think).
I was in Guildford as well two weeks ago, good job I didn't see it advertised then, it could have been a spur of the moment bike that I lived to regret

Buy it, I'd like one, but I don't know if I'm brave enough to have another fragile Italian supermoto, I wonder if you could wedge an SV650 engine into one, it would be cheaper than constantly rebuilding the Aprillia engine.
Or buy it and limit the revs to 8000.

£2 k on the bike and £3k on petrol to ride it

Same as Spin, probably the best answer is 2k for an sv650, 3k for petrol and goodies.

Although I'm too sensible for that so would buy a GSXS 750 instead. A 1000 if in budget but doubt they are for a decent one. I just love my bike at the moment and happy with the same/similar. Just a fab road bike

Yeah the cheaper ones are usually very leggy, but they also seem to wear the miles well in terms of finish which was one of the things that swayed me for mine. The fared one is challenging to look at too.

I've only ever seen one, it was seriously rocking the Suzuki Teapot look, but with a 21st Century twist.

The only bikes I've ridden for fun in recent years have been off roaders.

Maybe a Honda 300 Rally.

That's the way my mind is going at the moment too. Although the local byways have been torn up by the nutters in 4×4s, some of the roads/lanes are heading towards BOAT condition.

(Athough my head was turned today by an S1000XR which seems to be a hybrid of the 2 favourite bikes I've owned so maybe the £5k will have to be a deposit ).

I had a DRZ400 for 7 or 8 years, I sold it because I got bored of doing the same BOATs repeatedly, but I wouldn't mind something like a modern engined XT500 to explore tiny paved and unpaved roads.

I'd probably get a 4t KTM Freeride & a Co-op meal deal with the change. They're lovely things and North Wales is close-ish.
