Hi All!
Hope your all ok and eagerly looking forward to the end of lockdown.... And a mild spring!
Its been a while since I updated this, The last few months have been a mishmash of good things and bad things - And pretty much everything in my life was put on hold as the stress and strain of absolutely everything got on top of me.
Last update I made was December 6th, Bike was looking good... I was pretty much complete aside from a few finishing touches (Carbon etc), I was getting married on the following Saturday... Despite everything that lockdown had thrown at me and my family (As well as everyone else of course), Things were looking pretty good, and really positive for a change in a year that had been about as shit as it could have been.
Unfortunately however, It seemed that 2020 Wasn't quite done with me....
On December 7th, my mum was taken Ill quite suddenly and passed away the following morning - I wont go into detail as there is too much to write but when she did pass it all happened very quickly when she went (Which is a small consolation I guess). There is a lot more to it than just that but as I say too much to write on here.
So Mum leaves us on the 8th, Then we have the wedding (Which nearly got canned) on the 12th - Then Christmas, New Year and then I pretty much hit rock bottom and needed to fix my head for a bit.
So now getting back on track again, focusing on the new addition (A Boy!) which is due with us in August and finally getting back on to getting the RGV Finished.
Small change to the paintwork which you will notice on the pictures below which consisted of correcting the alignment of a couple of lines and a little doodle on the tank as a little nod to my lovely mum (who was really interested in this build and loved looking at the photos as things progressed), a few new bolt sets, the addition of some Carbon bits and also a full strip and rebuild of the rear caliper - As it appears I screwed something up last time around which resulted in a sticky piston.
So that is it really, All done..... Next up will be a fresh MOT, Tax and then out on the road for the spring to get a few more miles under its belt!
Mum used to love feeding the birds, Her garden was full of feeders and she used to sit out there for hours and hours just watching them do their thing
State of that rear tyre
I'm pleased to announce also that the RGV has won its first award courtesy of 44Teeth in the form of being the winner of the 'Show us Your Growler' Section of their new lockdown news show a couple of weeks ago..... High praise indeed, Nice to see it out there for all to see too!
So, Not really sure whats next - I have been saving the pennies and have a little bit of a fund together for the next project in the line, However there is nothing that is really fitting my limited budget at the moment. The prices of absolutely everything second hand that is vaguely desirable seems to have rocketed since we hit the tail end of last year. Must be Covid related somehow but not sure how long it will be before these crazy prices start to settle, Its just madness. A lot of bikes out there are selling at inflated prices, but there are some RGV's, RVF's, VFR's etc out there with the most absolutely ridiculous price tags and they will just sit there, unsold for ever - Even some complete shitters, its crazy.
So, Ill just wait it out I guess until something comes along as I dont want to just pick something up that doesn't interest me just so I have something on the go as there will be no satisfaction in the project 'Journey', Which is the whole reason I do these things for. I've got plenty to keep me busy in my 'Up' Days (I am still a bit all over the place at the moment, Thinking of going to see Quack as its not exactly passing as I hoped it would). I've got an old Valve Radio that belonged to my Grandad from back in 1948 that I am trying (As yet unsuccessfully) to renovate, and also I am looking to floor the Garage..... Oh and the small matter of our Son who will be along before I know it so plenty to get on with
Thanks for all your support on this, its been good having you all following and also giving me your Advice, feedback / Slagging off my number plate font

both on here and back on TRC - Its been nice documenting everything on here!
Ill stick some more pics on here once I get it out and about - But for now, Thanks for coming on the journey with me
