Or you could rename this thread, The Scooter thread. Then it'd be easily avoidable for those that don't like scoots!

Totally off topic and apologies, today in work I picked up and rode a BMW C 4 E leccy scooter. It was brilliant fun to ride, pretty futuristic to say the least but easily comparable to my C400. 70 mile range and I topped it out at 76mph. handled ok, it is quite heavy but held its weight low down so once it was moving, it handled pretty well (has a reverse gear too, but I was too chicken to try that).

Just had a look. Very futuristic, but I kinda liked it! I'd love a leccy scoot, but they just haven't got the range I need yet. The bikes like Zero are prohibitively expensive.

I wasn't sold when i first saw it, it's really long, but I think it needs to be to help with the handling and weight distribution. It rode really well. The range would do me, it's only a 3.5-4 hour charge from 0% - 100% using a three pin plug. BUT, £12k, nearly £14k with all the nice extras. That's a crap load of money!!

I think it looks long because it's low. With someone sat on it, it looks fine? The geometry is a bit odd but looks rideable.



I'd have one. (But not at that price perhaps).

I did have a load of fun on it. The advantage of the one I had was it was fully battenburged and had full emergency equipment so as i was asked to do some test riding, it would have been rude not to utilise it.
it equipped itself very well. But overall, I'm not sure that it would have a role, certainly not in my force. Still, i have it to test for another couple of weeks, so will try and get out on it some more, in between the motorcycle course I'm running.

Be interesting to see what the real range is when loaded up and given some 'umpty.

Based on my ride today, I'd estimate around 45-50 miles

It appears to be a really nice one. Started it up this morning and its sweet as a nut. Sound like a new bike its so quiet. Not bothered to ride it yet, but I will probably do so today if my covid test is clear as have a couple of click and collects to pick up.

I wasn't looking for such a nice one tbh. Just an old snotter to get through winter on would have done, but there was none about. This was the same money as doggy looking ones, so I snapped it up. I even got it delivered from Ealing for £70 as I'm too lazy to get there by public transport!

It's a shame to use it through winter as its so clean under the panels when you look through, but its here to protect the MT09, so used in all weathers it will be!

Should have got that one ATFd at the same time as the MT09.

Scoots are easy to clean and I don't suppose he'd remove panels to apply it? He'll be here this morning though, suppose i could ask him? Hmmm...

A bit of a quirt on the clean bits you can see through the panels has to be worth it?

IIRC my mum has one of these, she loves it, but isn't using it much so might be selling it.

It's a contender for the traffic light GP,as everyone thinks it's a 125.

Pull on back brake,full throttle and dump the rear brake like a clutch. An SH will wheelie just fine.

Good idea. I've got a tin of it here somewhere. If I can find it I'll do that or order another if i cant.

Just been out for the first ride on it. Peach of a scoot it must be said! Needs a screen but that on its way. Very smooth and eerily quiet after the MT! Anyway, perfect for the job. Very pleased with it.

So Mr Scoot Boi, what other scoots do you recommend ?
I'm seriously thinking about selling my ST1050 but don't want a Diddy Scoot but also not paying mega-bucks for one.

If you haven't got long legs, a mk3 Tmax. Can nip around town on them but they also have the legs for a long run. You can also have your legs forward or in a more conventional position. I think the Tmax with its centrally mounted engine is the best scoot out there. All scoots take some getting used to though. See if you can blag a decent length test ride on one.

I'm 6'1" with a 33/34" inside leg so don't really have probs - I did have an Aprilia Atlantic 500 and other than the flakey electrics it was pretty good.
I'll check out the T-Max prices, I was looking at Burgman's over the weekend and was shocked how much people were want for pretty old and high miles ones! I reckon Id get around 3.5k for my Sprint, certainly wouldn't want to spend any more than that on a scoot
