I don't go to the pub often anyway and contributing to yet another surge on Covid infections doesn't appeal to me at all so I'm happy to give the large social gatherings a miss this year.
Similar here.
I want to be more sociable with friends and family (there's going to be one hell of a wake for my Dad once things are a lot safer), but I'm not sure I want to be crammed into gardens with the rest of the 'general public' for a while yet.

crammed into the garden ? Surely that's better than going to a Supermarket/shop/whatever... there'll be tables spaced at a distance and the fact it's actually outdoors.

Where then ? If you use that restriction then really it's only at home that suits ? Which means you only see certain/specific people and a bit of the spontaneous aspect is completely lost then. I find it nice sitting in the pub garden and one of the guys i've not seen wanders in for a pint and a conversation starts..
I also enjoy sitting in the pub garden watching people, seeing how they interact, seeing their world.. .
Sitting inside a pub is not something i do often, unless it's damn cold or i'm eating.

Every single pub garden I've been into has had smokers, and more recently, vapers.
Vaping, in case you haven't noticed, is often accompanied by billowing clouds of vapour being blown
out of the vapers mouth.
Any vaper who's contagious (especially if they're not exhibiting symptoms), is essentially giving the virus a free, and highly visible, ride into the immediate atmosphere.
Get caught in the vape cloud from the next table, and you're breathing their exhalation, you've no choice.
No vaping in supermarkets, and you can avoid the mouth-breathers by simply staying away from them.

Given the collected exhales in shops etc, I'll feel a lot safer in a beer garden! If I'm downwind from a vaper exhaling those sickly plumes, i'd move anyway, but that's because I'm no fan of a lung full of sickly sweet tasting smoke rather than a covid threat.

Having a couple in town, and I'd say about 75% of bars are shut.
Some of the open ones cater for the riff raff, and had a bit of trouble finding a decent bar with terrace with cover
Baking hot sun today, and don't want the beer getting warm

Listening to the news and folk in the beer gardens are saying it’s been great to get out in the fresh air ! Are they thick as you’ve been able to get fresh air without going to the pub for months now ?
I just don’t get the opening of pubs and shops tbh, why not wait till end of year when most will have been vaccinated ? It’s been fine meeting a couple of friends outdoor in non crowded places so why open them ? Stopped at our favourite cafe take away today and they’ve now got tables outside, no distancing and folk ignoring the rules about masks inside especially in the toilets. It’s like it’s a free for all again, picked the take away up and went to a remote place. Maybe I just dislike people more now

I work on a business park about 200m from a massive retail park 'Parkgate' at Rotherham. The traffic on my commute home was mental, it was like the last Saturday before Christmas!

Went past one of my locals tonight, not one person in the garden!
My old local had about 20 people outside. Bit of a damp squib really. Mind you, that'll suit me at the weekend, although with it being warmer, i suspect Saturday will be a different story?

In the UK I like a country pub as long as it's quiet, I can cope with a few other people but as soon as it gets loud enough that I have to raise my voice or busy enough that I have to wait for a drink then I'm gone. Basically, if it involves being where other human beings are drinking alcohol and getting louder by the pint then I haven't wanted to be there since I turned thirty. I'd much rather meet somewhere more pleasant.
Now covid is involved I can't see why anyone would choose to do it, but each to their own.

Went past one of the nearby pubs tonight, which has a very nice beer garden, and there was maybe 12 people in the garden. Hour or so later I went to pick up my daughter and it was rammed, not much social distancing, more like penguins in the Antarctic sheltering from the cold.

I stayed away from pubs and shops yesterday. I drove past a couple of pubs and thought it was nice to see people sat in the sun enjoying themselves. The Primark queue was legendary with three people telling me about it snaking around the streets of Brighton
I'm going for a pub lunch on Sunday

I'm looking forward to meeting up with friends in the pub garden on Thursday evening for a decent pint. I really don't understand why people think its risky when we've all been going to the supermarket regularly - the pub garden is much safer suerely?
My local is a quiet country pub, so I'm also looking forward to chilling out in front of this fire next autumn when we are allowed:
