One of the big oil companies, Esso maybe, ran a fleet of Metro pick ups in the 1980's. They were coming to the end of their useful life in 1988/89. I tried buying one at the time.

I think it was from a van...different roof line.
Good call. I've just had a look at some pictures of Escort cars and vans and I think you're right. Converting a van to a pickup was probably easier as well.

You couldn't beat a pug 504 pick uo. Abso ferkin lutely huge load space. We used to get 3 crossers in the back with ease.

Customs seized many, many P100 pickups during the days when smuggling booze was in fashion. They were the vehicle of choice, just ahead of Volvo 245 estate.

To stop them being auctioned off and getting back onto the hands of other smugglers, they were crushed.

Dozens and dozens ended their lives like this, long before the tinworm had a chance to get to them.
