Chased Octopus for my final bill (moved to cheaper fixed deal elsewhere, £500 return of over paid utility bill direct debits - win

Priced up materials for two custom built alcove cupboards (plywood and tulipwood), £700, bang goes the windfall / return of my money

I thought £700 seemed excessive until I priced Baltic birch ply (£110 per sheet) instead of Beech faced B/BB ply (£50 p/s). I’m going to speak with a couple of local timber yards for the ply and tulipwood as the overall cost includes £80 delivery costs…

I need to get a wriggle on with ordering everything as I am planning to build them at the end of the month and there’s a fair amount of cutting, planing, priming and painting to be done before then.

Could be a 'skip level ' meeting? Very common in lots of bigger companies.
Pretty much what you said. Shes very personable and wanted to meet everyone in her team on a1-2-1 basis. Apparently, I'm very well liked and known for being very helpful! 8-) :D
Great 👍

I used to do these with my teams back when I had a fancy job title. Just plain old nobody these days and it's very refreshing :obscene-drinkingcheers:
I still do 👍 Have a quick weekly whole team catch-up too to keep everybody in the loop with what's going on. I'm not the 'director-in-an-ivory-tower' type. I swear a lot too 😆

Went past Storm Stacey's merchandise booth being trailered through town on its way up to Oulton.

A handy reminder about BSB this weekend :)

Went into the London office, realised I felt like death. Toughed it out till lunchtime.

Returned to hotel room (I'm down here for two days) got into bed, intermittently snoozed, and read the entire new Thursday Murder Club book.

Am now awaiting a Deliveroo of carbs and caffeine before returning to my pit. Ugh.

Wife to work, son to work, me to church to put up more "Private Land - please do not park here. For Church Users only" Signs. People who use the hall and church have not been able to get to the car parking as local residents have been filling them up, even though there are clear signs there already... Then back home to get the delivery I was waiting for, new sound system for the church hall. Induction Loop and microphones. Just waiting for the speakers and 6U wall cabinet to be delivered. Got the cables and bits and pieces. All funded by a grant I was successful in getting.

Then to take a Holy Communion service in the church, first Thursday service since before Covid. Glad to bring that back for the community.

An afternoon meeting, then have the boiler man testing the gas system. All in good order for the Vicarage! Back to more admin work, sorting out the Evensong in November where the Mayor is attending and the Archdeacon of Rochester. So it needs to be just so! Took son to the park so he can walk the dog, collected the daughters blood test papers from the GP, back home to cook dinner.

Had an evening meeting, finished at 8pm, home to sort out more work. Just had a couple of Jaffa cakes with the wife, our antidepressants... oh yes, took my antibiotics for the ear infection... hoping they start to work soon.

Apply for another grant to get some sound blocks for the hall ceiling to reduce the echo. It really is noticeable. Can only apply for £500, but £750 would be better, but I will make do with what I can get.

I think that is enough for today, I've been on the run since 7am.
Proverbs 17:9
One who forgives an affront fosters friendship, but one who dwells on disputes will alienate a friend.

Bought my first iPhone.

I keep getting shit from the wife/boy about the quality of my old Andriod. It's justified as my 'upgrade' phone 2 years ago was an iPhone 14 for the boy, so i kept mine.

I've never wanted an iPhone but things like the camera mean it's worth a try.

Oh noes, not the dark side!

I'm thinking of replacing my three year old Pixel 6a, the only problem is it still does everything I need it too perfectly well.

Mine is a Redmi Note 10 which wasn't that great even on day 1 as i bought it cheaply when i broke my other phone. I did look at the Pixel but no idea how well they work and even if i don't get on with the iPhone i can give this 16 to the boy and come up with plan B.

Confined to local sails only today due to the effects of this storm still in the area - really blew and rained over night!

May just walk in to the local town and get pissed, see what tomorrow brings.

I've never been in a situation where that solution isn't a viable and very attractive option. :D

My dad's 4a has just started to play up a bit - got him a 9a from VOXI (aka Vodafone) earlier this week for £315 👍 (had to take out a £10 a month rolling contract with it, which I then promptly cancelled and got a refund for)

Went out to our local for the music quiz and meal.
Came home with another box of chocolates and bottle of bordeaux!
Checked emails, one from the pub asking us, should we go again, to let the regulars have a look in.

There was a Brit team at my local trivia quiz on Wednesday. Called themselves "Make America Great Britain Again"

Our team is called The 5th Elephant.

There's one team that consists of one of the brewery managers & the spouses of the two quiz masters... They've been getting some *feedback* about possible impropriety...
