I've been to the hospital for another dressing change on last week's hand surgery.
I take it the surgery was a success?
The surgeon was unable to stitch up afterwards, she said the finger was bending back. So it's an unstitched cut which doesn't look particularly pleasant, it still smarts a bit too.
A friend in work, who is so far on the spectrum that he should be singing 'Somewhere over the rainbow', came into work some months ago with his hand in swathes of bandages. Turns out he fell down the stairs at home, and caught his little finger on the nail that was hammered into the bannister rail (used for Xmas decs, left in for convenience

) and ripped his little finger open from top to bottom. Ouch.
Similar thing, he found the stitches restrictive so they redid them somehow, with fewer actual stitches. Usual confusion between the G.P. and hospital, so being the office first aider, I ended up cleaning it and changing dressings every other day. My efforts earned a compliment from the hand clinic when he went back in.

Was actually fascinating to see how it went from a swollen, weeping wound to almost healed in a few weeks. The human body is amazing, really.
Anyhow, he's now fine. Full movement, little scarring and the physio got him using it again, so chin up, pretty sure it will all heal fine.

This is the second time for this hand, I had it done in October 2020, I was hoping for a bit longer between operations.
Today's pic. I've put it in a spoiler as it's not too everyone's liking.

Saving your eyesight, though.

I did take a photo of my nob with the huge tube coming out of the Jap eye when I had my prostate op, but everybody I offered to show it to declined.
Just thinking back to when they pulled it out is making me wince...

I wish I had known it was possible to decline.

Fair point. Even the Franklin Mint refused my order for commemorative plates, and if you ever seen some the shit they'll print on a saucer and flog in the back of the Sunday papers, you know it's not a pretty sight.

What did you swap them for?
The plan was to swap them for a set without a gaping hole in the leading edge of the right one, but now the owner is saying he'd rather pay me for my tin bashing skillz to fix the hole.

Breakfast didn't go quite according to plan. Along with the usual two slices of sourdough, I put a thinner than normal slice from the end of the loaf into the toaster.. which the toaster launched into the sink when it was done. Bugger.

A bit more oomph and you'll have a competitor for Blue Origin - if you can get 6 women on a slice of sourdough.

I have mostly been waggling a paint laden roller at the walls. Only good thing is that I can listen to classic blues without the Mrs saying it all sounds the same. Well as it's mainly I, IV, V 7th chords, she's kinda correct....... but I love it.

I passed my final roleplay assessment today which means I’m let out to deal with proper clients next week, sold a log burner I acquired last year (didn’t fit in the hole, scored some 8 x 2 22mm chipboard floorboards for the loft(s) and went for an unexpected curry with one of the offspring.
A great day all in all

To do the same job (financial adviser) I’ve done for 30 years for a new business. As it is a regulated role, they have to ensure that I can play the fiddle to their tune as well as being ‘fit & proper’.

I've taken several services today. With Stations of the Cross this morning, a Frugal Lunch and then reflection. Followed by a Service of the Last Hour. I think took someone to the police to help them report an incident of sexual harassment, which went very smoothly with the police service being both professional and compassionate. The police lady was very good on the phone and kept things simple, but also showed gentleness and kindness. A credit to our Police Forces. I then took the person back home so they could be safely escorted to their place of sanctuary.
Then home to see my son and our poorly cat. Helped my wife with the baking, made coffee and have now finished my safeguarding report and will start finishing my Easter Sermon!
