What a load of shite
Without doubt..... but doesn't make me like it less.

I've had lots of Arais over the years so happy to go with this one. (assuming it fits)

Did you look at the Shoei Glamster, which i reckon is probably direct competition to the Rapide?

I like Arai, I know I can buy a medium and it'll be a perfect fit, I reckon the Rapide looks like it'll do it's job better than the Shoei, but they both seem to be after that bit of the retro market.

Yeah but none of them appealed in looks, along with the helmet being the wrong shape aesthetically. The opening is too big, sides too shallow and 'round'

I'd have picked the Arai over the Shoei, for the same reasons, but maybe not a yellow one :)

You know me, i like a bit 'different' at times, hence the Orange Shoei and the KTM fetish.. if we're moving away from the orange it doesn't mean we have to move away from 'different'

But if push came to shove, I'd have gone Frost Black to match my Tour X4.

In fact, I think my next lid is going to probably be a cheap Arai Debut in Frost Black.

I think I might be tempted by one of these for when it's too cold/wet for an open face

I've just bought another lid- Scorpion, which isn't a brand I've ever noticed until I saw Fabio in one but it looked nice (IMO), had some features that were attractive to me including light weight and removable cut-outs for speakers, so I thought I'd give it a go and I like it- quality and finish is nice, it fits me well, which is almost always a challenge with my size/shape head, it's very quiet and has a nice visor venting/ securing system and is very reasonably priced IMO and so I'm keeping it

Also has pump-up-able cheekpads via a little bladder button thing just inside the chin piece, may be a gimmick, and who knows how long it will last but does seem of some use, definitely closes off that bit of wind noise you can get under helmets at speed

Do they make a Scorpion helmet that doesn't look like something from Halo 4?

Finally retired my old Sidi boots. I bought them 2nd hand 15 years ago so they've done pretty well.

Got this deal on a pair of TCX

I've got the previous generation of those, must have had them 10 years, £100 from the CMC Outlet. They've done a lot of miles and at least three on track crashes and they're still holding up well.

That bodes well then, I thought £119 was pretty good :)

Just an update on this as there was a little interest. Since buying it I've done a three day trip to Cochem, Germany and have now done a trackday. After putting it on I simply forget about it. It no more or less comfortable that having a back protector in my jacket.

Delighted

They were still going strong just looking a bit tatty and had a paperclip for a zip-tab. TCXs are great boots, I've got a pair of EVOs that must be nearly 15 years old.
My old pair of Oxtar gore tex lasted 12 years and only replaced as they looked a bit old. They are still fine to wear.

Which reminds me, I must sell the replacements. I got these as a replacement but they slightly pinched my toes. Gutted as really good and gore tex.

Oddly enough my replacement for those was yet another pair of (touring) TCX and the same size fit perfectly.

My TCX are the short trainer type boots... i regret getting the waterproof as i have really hot feet and these increase that ! My feet are soaked when i take them off due to sweating.. I may invest in some less warm ones.

Track i have RST Tractech and they've been absolutely awesome over many years, although i think i've only got a couple left in the soles as i press hard on the pegs it seems.
