Without doubt..... but doesn't make me like it less.
I've had lots of Arais over the years so happy to go with this one. (assuming it fits)

Yeah but none of them appealed in looks, along with the helmet being the wrong shape aesthetically. The opening is too big, sides too shallow and 'round'KungFooBob wrote: ↑Sun Jul 26, 2020 7:57 pm Did you look at the Shoei Glamster, which i reckon is probably direct competition to the Rapide?
I like Arai, I know I can buy a medium and it'll be a perfect fit, I reckon the Rapide looks like it'll do it's job better than the Shoei, but they both seem to be after that bit of the retro market.
You know me, i like a bit 'different' at times, hence the Orange Shoei and the KTM fetish.. if we're moving away from the orange it doesn't mean we have to move away from 'different'KungFooBob wrote: ↑Sun Jul 26, 2020 8:27 pm I'd have picked the Arai over the Shoei, for the same reasons, but maybe not a yellow one
The 1970s Griffin Clubman is reborn?
Looks really nice in person but not for meKungFooBob wrote: ↑Sun Jul 26, 2020 8:40 pm I like this one...
But if push came to shove, I'd have gone Frost Black to match my Tour X4.
In fact, I think my next lid is going to probably be a cheap Arai Debut in Frost Black.
I've got the previous generation of those, must have had them 10 years, £100 from the CMC Outlet. They've done a lot of miles and at least three on track crashes and they're still holding up well.G.P wrote: ↑Mon Jul 27, 2020 2:22 pm Finally retired my old Sidi boots. I bought them 2nd hand 15 years ago so they've done pretty well.
Got this deal on a pair of TCX

That bodes well then, I thought £119 was pretty goodKungFooBob wrote: ↑Mon Jul 27, 2020 5:04 pm

Just an update on this as there was a little interest. Since buying it I've done a three day trip to Cochem, Germany and have now done a trackday. After putting it on I simply forget about it. It no more or less comfortable that having a back protector in my jacket.
My old pair of Oxtar gore tex lasted 12 years and only replaced as they looked a bit old. They are still fine to wear.inewham wrote: ↑Mon Jul 27, 2020 6:57 pm +1 I had a previous generation SP too and the only real reason for replacing them was because I fancied a new pair. They were still going strong just looking a bit tatty and had a paperclip for a zip-tab. TCXs are great boots, I've got a pair of EVOs that must be nearly 15 years old.
