They do nothing properly in education.
Except MS licensing, because it so fucking cheap.

You can get copper SFPs that take RJ45 plugged cables
You can get short range 10 and 40 GB SFPs where the SFPs are moulded onto the ends of the cable
And yes you'd need 6 to do it properly
Nearly everyone drastically overestimates their bandwidth usage, it's unusual to see any one use a gig during normal working, never mind 10 gig (apart from backups which will take every bit of available bandwidth if you let them)

We are now installing a 100Gb fibre back bone across multiple sites for a customer

For the last 18 months I've work for a company that deals a lot in educational IT, for 20 years I worked in corporate environments.
I'd say that at least 90% of the IT staff I speak to at schools are fucking idiots. How the hell do we trust these fools with childrens data!
I've just told an IT Director of a multi academy trust that he didn't need SFP's to link three cheapy HPE 1gbe switches together in the same cabinet. He said he wanted to do it that way anyway. So I told him he would need four SFP's he argued that he only needed three because it was only three switches.
I give up.
I'm not sure it's just school staff.
In my last life we'd install leased lines for companies, one question on the gig bearer circuits was whether they needed presentation as single mode or multi mode fibre. The answer was always them telling us we'd need to choose. The answer was always then the same. Nono, YOU need to tell us what you need for your purposes. They'd then say "we don't know what the difference is".
Now look, I'm not a networking guy, that wasn't my role here. But I learnt very quickly the first time I heard these phrases banded about from a quick google that the answer depends on what the network after our demarcation point looked like.
If you're wondering why we would never advise them that they would probably just want SMF, well were weren't doing their internal network and even just saying that would always be liable to end you in a world of pain if it turned out they were planning on connecting up two buildings or something....
edit: oh, and every time a new head of sales joined the first time this would happen they'd start saying "we need to be more helpful to customers". Well great, I guess our teams can be if you start charging them extra for consultancy too....

People putting the glasses away wrong
This might seem very minor and on the face of it, it is!
I can cope when the glasses aren't neatly stacked,
I'm ok with people thinking glasses shouldn't be grouped together, just chucked on any shelf.
But when people put glasses away that are still wet that annoys me (no-one would do that in their own home)
But what REALLY inspired this post, is when people put the small tumblers in the big tumbles and they get stuck!
I spent ages this morning trying to get them apart, I had to result to filling the glasses with water, freezing them, then running hot water over the larger glass. Which means I had to make multiple trips to that mobile, back and forth across the campsite

Fucking chancers aka door to door sales men:
“I’m an ex-serviceman, with lovely lanyard showing a non-descript ID doc, selling cleaning products door to door to earn a living”, that’s fine and dandy, but don’t tell a home owner to fuck off when asked to close a gate, use the paths and gates rather than cutting through hedges or over fences, and don’t look like you are casing houses. Yes, the cctv is real and ring doorbells record good quality video of you peering through the door glass.
“We are doing some roofing work for one of your neighbours and felt it important to let you know you have a few missing slates / your roof is failing / no I’m not selling anything” No thanks pal, the nearest you have come to getting on a roof putting on your roof logo’d jacket, the neighbours have no scaffolding up (4 storey house) and no, I wouldn’t be interested in getting a quote from a chancer even if there was a fucking gaping hole in the roof. I thought the “we were in your area” sales pitch died a death years ago!

Lazy, cost-cutting, shoddy builders.
I've lived in my house for about 10 years and have been plagued by a damp patch that appears over the front door. Over the years, on and off, I've been up on the roof, looking around upstairs windows, checking Velux windows, etc. trying to find the source of the water. The other day when it was pissing down I noticed it had reappeared. In a fit of pique I got the ladder out, climbed on the tiled roof, which is covered in moss, rather steeply angled and very slippery. Not the smartest thing to do, I know, but there you go.
Anyhow, at least with the torrential rain I could finally see what the problem was: the guttering around the dormer window had no end cap. Water was running backwards with the sheer volume, then out, back along the bottom of the gutter and at the guttering bracket somehow managing to run back along the soffit, under the roof. A visit to Screwfix and a fiver later, I've trimmed a bit of gutter off and added an end cap with down pipe and a shoe to make sure any future water coming back along the gutter is directed onto the roof tiles and to the gutter below.
A standard end cap is about a quid and the original builder would have need three of them. Twat.

Weird things happening in the garage
Couple of years ago I woke to the sound of the Beta engine running. Had been running a while as almost out of fuel and garage grey with smoke.
I put it down to having jet washed the bike the day before and water in the starter switch.
But just went in the garage and the Husqy had fallen over and got tangled with Pen's little AJP. Brake lever jammed into her side panel . Took ages to separate them. Taking off panel and brake lever.
But, it fell over the 'wrong way'.
Physically impossible to fall that way unless with a mighty push.
If it had fallen the normal way, it would have fallen into the Suzuki.
Lots of other little things as well. Spooky.
It's got a proper strong door with several locking points.
Hmmm.
El Poltergeisto! Get out! Get out now, whilst you still can!

Or spend ages writing a long, ranty post then delete it because it's not ranty enough, damnit.
(And there aren't enough ranty, angry smilies.

doesn't really do it.)
