It's the ooofish method for getting badges etc off car bodywork.

You can even buy a tool for it, if you can't find a KGB assassin to borrow one from.

e string from a guitar will also work. B or G too! But only in standard tuning.

If you can't get to a fishing place then monofilament sewing thread will also do the trick.

Is it a metal tank or a plastic cover?

If it's not scruffy or overly worn, I'd just leave it. Embrace your BNPness.

I have some nylon cord I could take a strand off.

Metal tank.

It's probably as old as the bike and even if the design wasn't what it is, it looks bad and I'd want to remove it.

Funny thing is, that one owner from new is a Maltese guy. Father is English though.

It'll get one, once it's in my possession.
Over here you pay a deposit, get a copy of the logbook, use it to arrange insurance, pay the rest assuming you were able to get insurance, take the docs to the DVLA office and do the transfer in person (or at your insurer's office, but the personal plate precludes that), and only then is it your bike.

Operation to be done on Wednesday, hopefully.

I had a practically identical Honda to yours and found it had the bland efficiency that was typical Honda. I fitted a Leo-Vince end can and used a Dynojet Power commander along with a foam type air cleaner in the original air box. Although I did get some mid-range improvements in the power delivery I eventually swapped it for a far more exciting KTM Duke 390 which was the very opposite of bland! The KTM really didn't want to be in top gear at anything below 70 MPH.

To be fair to Honda the CB300R I have now is nowhere near as dull as the CBR250 to ride and has a much improved power delivery.

A slightly louder exhaust is on the table, but just for personal preference not any dreams of it actually going faster.

If I want to go faster, I'll take the fz6. They're not necessarily considered an exciting bike, but with a nearly 100hp engine, it's not slow.

I had a CB300R from brand new a few years ago. While the engine was decent, I found the chassis, especially the front forks, too taut for Maltese streets and didn't enjoy riding it much. Despite the CBR monicker, this bike feels much more compliant.
