Indicators arrived which is nice, went on easily enough and then the back end was all put back together and tested.
NOCO genius battery charging cable removed.
Last was a final detailing, plenty of trim gel and carnauba wax to get it looking as nice as possible. I'll be shocked if he's unhappy with it considering its age.

SO as you'll have seen in the other thread.... the ZX6R is still here.
As it was in the van and we were close to MSG Racing, we had a decent chat about things and it was decided the ZX6R is staying for at least another year and was dropped at MSG Racing for a QuickShifter to be installed, along with an MOT, coolant and brake fluid swap.

Today is DYNO day.. The bike will get a few runs first to test and check the Quickshifter is working correctly.
It'll then get a power/fuelling run just out of interest.
So heading over there in a little while to stick the camera on record mode and see if i can get some decent footage

along with a pretty dyno chart.
Bike has a shiny new MOT today which is done, along with some new brake fluid and coolant in it.

So the QS was installed up at MSG racing, then configured and set-up.

First vid is a quickshifter test,
Next is the power run.
On the dyno it made 110bhp, which is a nice healthy figure and power curve. All happy and good.

Its a screamer alright
Sounds great... liking the quick shifter too .. Sounds like it operates better at higher rpm?

I thought they were a good 10-12 bhp up on 110?

Yeah we chatted about that, below 7000rpm the kill time is all screwy on 600s, so they work better when it's getting a beating. First one we tried was TERRIBLE, because the killtime needed adjusting and the other dyno guy was doing it at too low an rpm. I've made sure MRs Weeksy is aware.
It's not too disimilar with many other QSs i think, the KTM 790 works a lot better when it's on the pace rather than cruising.

115bhp according to MCN, I'm guessing that's crank/factory so likely lower. As always with Dynos and dyno guys they all think theirs is correct. MSG are quite stingy compared to some, an S1000RR went to a competitor last week and made 211bhp, on his it made 187bhp... The actual number was completely irrelevant to me though, i just wanted to make sure it was OK and as it was on the dyno anyway it made sense to give it a run.
The 636 engine makes more horses though.

Mt10 is no different in that respect, perhaps why I don't use it very often if I'm honest.
Nice to see it working on the dyno and the effect it has on the chassis when not pushing the revs.

Good stuff. That will be great fun on track. Think the QS is always smoother when giving it some or when the drive drops off, up there somewhere, and thats the whole idea init

Is the kill time a time, or a number of revs? If its the former it makes sense that it works better at higher revs.

The pdf manuals on their site seem to be broken. However they use the phrase "engine interrupt time" elsewhere in the site.
From that id guess its a set number of seconds (or rather fractions of a second) regardless of the engine speed. They're spark cut systems too.
So if you're doing say 6000rpm and you cut for 0.25s the engine will go around 25 times in that second whereas at 12,000rpm itd be 50 of course. That's gotta make a difference.

Many years ago, my mates B1 636 made 116bhp on the dyno... but with a full Arata system and circa 4 hours of full 3D dyno mapping.
I wouldn't be upset with 110bhp.
My 98 Blade made 120bhp with a pipe, filter and dynojet kit.
My stock 99 R6 made 95bhp on the dyno.

I wouldn't either- that's a healthy figure for a bog stock 2010 600 IMO - yep, the current 636s can give a fair bit more (especially the current model) , but that's decent
And giving Bob's comments a bit more context too, my '87 CBR-FH ( the first Jellymould) made 73rwhp on TTS dyno standard back in 1988 , which was how I ran it as a 600 proddie bike the first year I raced it - adding the Motad race full system, junking air fliter element and re-jetting for the CBR challenge series spec gave it an extra 4hp.
The next year I went balls-out, had full TTS senior stock (fore-runner of SS600) rules engine tune, which basically entailed re-bore to max oversize, lightened /balanced crank, flowed head and seriously raised compression ratio ( meant AVGas fuel only) and junking of the generator, starter motor etc , it gave 94hp on the same dyno as was a relative missile
Fast forward 10-15 years and I'd bought a '98 ex Ian Simspon Oooh-Ah Daily Star SS600 race CBR600-FX (the first ally framed one), Tony Scott tuned and was beautiful inside, it also ran total loss electrics and had some real trick bits on it, that produced 113 rwhp.
600s have come on loads, and Ceri's is a nice one- the QS will undoubtedly increase her enjoyment of it on track and I bet she gos a bit quicker as a result too

ZH2 QS only really works nicely above 6K (I think the manual recommends using it above 6K anyway).

Why has dyno sheet got speed and not revs ?
