Yay! I now have a kickstand spring.. that came with kickstand #3.. FFS

#1: Came with the bike
#2: Ordered on April 30th, arrived three weeks later without the bloody spring... Was dropped off for powdercoat today.
#3: Arrived today, with the spring

It's now in the tumbler.

Removed two of the choke plungers from the spare carbs. Took a look in one of the float bowls... which was unsurprisingly cleaner than the carbs I removed from the bike...

Weekend off from the project, but did score a pair of 750 Turbo side covers for a mere pittance :)

In other news:
That spring was sitting in the citric acid but there wasn't much of a reaction going on, then I put the jar it was in, in the small ultrasonic & it really started cooking off.

Decided against bare carbs, so carb bodies masked off. Need to fit float bowls & get spraying with shiny black epoxy paint.

Threw some paint on the carbs & the two rails they all mount to....did it outside in 101deg sunshine :)

Powder coated doodads will be ready for pick up at 3pm Friday.

From the first posts I thought this one was past (worth) saving, but you're certainly turning it around and quick

I've barely scraped the surface... All I've done so far is strip, clean & make the carbs look spiffy, plus drop off stuff for powdercoat & buff the sidecovers & tail somewhat...

& fuck about with the gastank a bit.

& fit the new ignition doodad.

In all my years around bikes, I can't recall ever coming across a bike with non alloy finish (unpainted) carbs before?

I could have bought a decent runner that needed nothing, but I'd rather bring this one back. Altho with that said, if this '81 GPz11 had shown up first on FBMP I'd have bought it instead... which I may still buy as well :shhh:

Started with the '81 GPz750, but satin finish, not gloss.

Powder coat doodads looking spiffy :banana-wrench:

I ended up with an extra grab rail that came with the tail & other set of rails I bought, so that went in the pile for p/c.
