I think they're pretty rare in the UK these days, the two I know of are both on a piece of private land down a tiny dead end road, I only know about them because I've cycled past them.

I'll just wait for the weekend and some boy racer will feck up near Beachy Head and put it in a field.

The last watch I bought was one of these, I haven't seen it for years as I don't wear a watch now, I'm guessing it's in one of my man drawers of stuff.Potter wrote: ↑Wed Aug 11, 2021 1:37 pmFunny you should link to that one, it's one of my favourite watches and has been hanging up in my garage for years.Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Wed Aug 11, 2021 10:08 am Isn't what constitutes a nice watch in the opinion of the rider, for me a Timex is a nice watch
This looks like a nice watch to me
Edited...just noticed it's 3 minutes slow, it must be losing about 30-40 seconds a year.
I think I've only owned 4 watches in my life.

Quite a few that I saw on driveways were on the drives of older, larger houses. You know the sort, built in the 1940's/50's, occupants now in their twilight years with an old Jag/Rover/ Ford Focus in front of the garage, covered in moss.

More "deliberately not used" rather than "abandoned" in the real sense of the word?

I hope they are more enjoyable now than when you put them away.

I was out for a couple of hours today, but the only wreck I thought of had been removed!
I need a spot of local civil unrest to have a chance with this one.

To be fair the ones I know of are more "not used since the 1970s" rather than abandoned.
Riding up to Cadwell on Saturday, I might see something on the way if I go through Wisbech.
I do know of an abandoned Morris Minor, but you'd need a trail bike with aggressive knobblies to get near it, and I haven't seen it for 20 years so it might not be there any more.

There are a few vehicles on British plates that i have seen parked up for some months. When I look at their details on DVLA, all are out of MOT and tax, and therefore I have to assume they are abandoned due to the 30 day rule post brexit. If you intended to apply for residency you had 30 days to get rid of the vehicle, or register it on Spanish plates (expensive!).
Thats what made me think of the challenge, as almost weekly I pass a Renault camper convrrsion that has not moved since at least August 2019.

We get cars dumped on a weekly basis on some of our industrial estates.Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Wed Aug 11, 2021 12:54 pm I think they're pretty rare in the UK these days, the two I know of are both on a piece of private land down a tiny dead end road, I only know about them because I've cycled past them.

I must live somewhere nice then, currently I'm stopped in a layby with a very dead fox, it's decaying.

I'm heading to West London on Tuesday, there's a good chance I'll have a few to choose from unless my colleagues have actually sorted them out.weeksy wrote: ↑Sat Aug 14, 2021 4:22 pmBeancounter wrote: ↑Sat Aug 14, 2021 4:02 pmWe get cars dumped on a weekly basis on some of our industrial estates.Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Wed Aug 11, 2021 12:54 pm I think they're pretty rare in the UK these days, the two I know of are both on a piece of private land down a tiny dead end road, I only know about them because I've cycled past them.

Re: The riding challenge game. Pic of your bike 'somewhere'
I did, got two separate ones in fact. Just need to work out how to upload.
Three in this photo - the Mitsubishi car and the Mercedes Sprinters:
They might not look it, but the Citroen Picasso and the Vauxhall Astra are both dumped. You can't see it from this photo but both cars have flat tyres and layers of dust (inside and outside) and the windscreens of both cars have writing all over them. We think the garage from the next door estate has dumped them because they're beyond economical repair.
