Have you ridden it in A mode yet?
If you are thinking of a flash then wiz have a good reputation and are without doubt the cheapest.
You'll get a 'generic' map but it will be significantly smoother than what is programmed in atm and within 1 or 2hp of a custom map.for at least 1/2 the price.
Iirc the 2019 can have a QS fitted as well if its going on track.

Yes but not much mate, about 5 miles on the way back on the test ride, I spent most of the ride in Standard. I never noticed any fuelling need or requirements at all when testing, it was silky smooth, I'm not honestly sure how it can get 'smoother'

Correct me if i'm wrong but the QS needs the additional hardware too ? like this ?
http://www.woolichracing.co.uk/products ... shing.aspx

I know that's listed for 16-17... so not sure if it's the same for the 19... Or can it just be 'enabled' on the 19 ?

https://www.partzilla.com/product/yamah ... 81A0-V0-00

Looks like that may be the kit, but not yet seeing for the XSR, but may just be that this one works...

Yes he will. Just not as bad as before.
Fair point. Its been ages since I was on track, but thinking back to Snetterton and getting overtaken by S1000s and RSV4s....yeah 120bhp ain't much is it.

A mid noughties Supersport 600 will only be a few bhp down, but weigh less and handle better, Mrs Weeksy's newer ZX6 should annihilate it :)

But that's not what it's all about.

not in performance it won't, the 2010 zx6R is 115bhp, so very similar. Of course there's wind/aero stuff, but in performance there's very little in it.

Enjoy your new bike, can you get something to cover those metal plates near the back of the seat?

No idea at this stage, answer is, probably.

Until it arrives and I spend more time with it and see what I like, don't, etc I'm not going to go crazy. We'll see after the first week what aesthetic changes happen.

First is shock which is on the way, then a radiator guard which is also on the way, the rest, dunno

My knowledge of the QS is limited as i have a 16 which doesn't have the pnp facility of the newer bikes.
Iirc the wiring and ecu bits are all there so all you have to do is buy and fit the sensor arm.........possibly.
Youtube is your friend here i think.

Probably the same...the tracer has 3 engine modes. I'm always in standard on the road. B is too delayed, slow pick up, A is too aggressive for slow, town riding. Turn at traffic light, over a little bump and the bike jumps, too sensitive. Standard is about right. A for track is ok.

Motor is great on road or track. Plenty to keep you entertained, likes a good revving. 👍

Having owned a supersports 600 with 110 odd hp, the xsr has an abundance of low end torque whereas a 600 doesnt do anything until 8-9k. I know I'd rather have the extra cc every time

I'm having a doubt currently as i've just checked and it's upshift only.... Doesn't that get confusing just having it 1 way ? Is there any real point ?

Yeah of course it has :) But you still need to use the clutch on way down, just don't need to blip (unless you want to of course)

I just thought it may get a bit confusing using the throttle only on way up but then needing the clutch on the way down.

Just like normal really. I never use clutch changing up.

I only generally use the clutch going up from first to second, then its clutchless all the way up to top. Just back off the throttle a teeny bit, snick it up a gear and wind it back on.

Not as quick as a QS, what with the feathering of the throttle, etc.. but essential if you take a pillion, imho, smooths the whole gear change process out.

Always use the clutch going down, with a nice little blip of the throttle, if it needs it or not :)

I always use I both up and down. Admittedly on the 790 I didn't as it had QS and blipper.

Still debating the QS, both from a value for money and a mechanical sympathy perspective

I've never had a QS, I've heard too many horror stories about 3rd party ones breaking gearboxes, however if a QS is a factory option and the gearbox was designed with one in mind I'd probably go for it. Even if I didn't use it all the time, just for pub bragging rights, etc..

May be worth a chat with all-round Yamaha legend Phil Seton? He's very clued up on Yamaha and their tech....
