A mate of mine has put down £500 for a new crf 300 that he might get in December.

Jesus that’s a bit of a risk.Don’t think I want one badly enough to give a dealer £500 for six months in the current climate.Dodgy knees wrote: ↑Wed Jun 23, 2021 10:11 pm A mate of mine has put down £500 for a new crf 300 that he might get in December.

No CRF demonstrator and no new delivery until October.
Didn’t put a deposit down to go on the waiting list, not convinced its for me yet, shame they don’t do them in black any more.
£250 normal deposit but said they’d take £50 as its such a long wait.

We did a bit today..
We did that steep path behind bikes in 2nd pic. It gets worse near the top.

We did yesterday too- brilliant day on some real fun lanes, albeit not without incident which meant an early bath for one of the gang , but no serious damage , cracking ( ) day overall

Almost 2 years to the day, same arm as a friend of mine. Dislocated fracture next to the wrist, needed plating. Got tramlined in a rut near Blewberry - he's still suffering issues

Ow, that does sound painful, and yeah, ***ing ruts! - easy to do.
Where we were (Butsers Hill area near south coast) there is a fair bit of clay in places and some of it is so slippy even when it seems relatively dry, it can make the climbs really interesting - luckily his injury is a minor fracture with no displacement much further up so he'll be fine in a few weeks I should think

Butser seems to be a bit of a 'test-piece', never got there myself. Gibbet Hill at the Devils Punchbowl was about my limit!

Buster is an absolute arse of a play place!
There used to be a large event the other side on a regular basis. Not been for a while obviously!
Add chalk into the mix as well there and it’s like ice on top of glass. Best when slightly wet.
Dry it’s like riding on talc ball bearings.
Sopping and it’s slippy clag

Re: Green Laning !😜
I went to the adventure bike rider festival at the weekend.
Very good it was.
Managed to get a run round the 20km? off road loop they had set up on a "Yamaha experience day" 700 Tenere with proper off road tyres on it.
The tenere had been my ideal bike on paper since it was announced a couple of years ago but on its release I was a bit disappointed with its size and weight.
Anyway this was my first chance to ride one properly off road and what a great bike- that 700 twin engine is lovely!
No getting away from it though -it is a big heavy bike and a lot to handle off road when things get tricky.
So at the moment I'm still holding out to try a crf300 -Honda didn't have a demo bike there unfortunately.
The Royal Enfield Himalayans seemed to be very popular !
Did anyone else go ?

Sold our tickets a while back as wasn’t 100% sure it would go ahead and then surgery meant no riding for the next 4-5 months so that was that

Re: Green Laning !😜
Just found out about the Fantic 250 efi enduro, priced about the same as the Honda, the few reviews around rate it highly. Taller than I'd like but 110kg ish and comes trail ready with bash and handguards.matt wrote: ↑Mon Jun 28, 2021 10:26 pm I went to the adventure bike rider festival at the weekend.

I was looking at the new tenere in a dealers and thought it looked a lot smaller/narrower than I was expecting but then my old 660 Ten is a fat old porker.

Talked myself out of the Fantic, then I was eyeing up the new Rieju Ranger until I realised it’s premix only so now looking at the Beta XTrainer which has oil injection pump, leccy start but no kickstarter as backup which is a bummer, probably the closest thing I’ve seen to a Pampera that’s available today.

I have a X-Trainer in the garage. Bought it new. Suspension is shite.Gregor wrote: ↑Sun Jul 11, 2021 12:46 pm Talked myself out of the Fantic, then I was eyeing up the new Rieju Ranger until I realised it’s premix only so now looking at the Beta XTrainer which has oil injection pump, leccy start but no kickstarter as backup which is a bummer, probably the closest thing I’ve seen to a Pampera that’s available today.
Tried to sell it a few times, but no bugger wants it. So just keep it for pals to ride.

Re: Green Laning !😜
Very enjoyable day on the lanes in Hampshire with Crust yesterday, the rain was of biblical and deafening proportions in the van down there but cleared up nicely, managed to miss 99% of the heavy showers, and the amount of water on the ground made some of the lanes really interesting
The threat of rain seemed to keep everyone else at home too, barely saw another person on any of the lanes all day, and the heavens absolutely opened again just as we were putting the bikes back in the van at the end - jammy eh!
Am aching a bit today though, some of it was a proper workout- a really fun day.
