On - off - on - off - now on again? Isle of Wight races

Post by The Spin Doctor »

The inaugural Isle of Wight Road Races have been given a firm date... again!

This time, the event is back on, but has been moved back again to between Wednesday 20th and Saturday 23rd April 2022.

And if you have been following the on, then off, then on and off again story of the proposed road races on the island you won't be too surprised to hear that it's not just the date that's moved but the course too.

The latest iteration in this long saga is that the Isle of Wight Road Races will actually take place over the 12.4-mile course originally announced for the proposed Diamond Races that were originally scheduled for October 2020. It's unclear whether it will be a TT or massed start.

The new event once again has ACU backing, but there's still a 6-week public consultation process to negotiate. That began on Sunday 1st August, and will explain the format, timings and impact of the event on local residents and businesses.
