Re: What have you done today thread?
Trimmed the bush thing growing up the side of the house so I could fit the car on the drive without scratching it.
Then top down cruise to Holmfirth for a pub lunch and back.
I'm still unbelievably happy with my purchase. All those years wasted not having a convertible.

Re: What have you done today thread?
On my way past I did a (very slow) lap of the Armoy circuit this morning, the club members were getting busy with all the air fencing and stands for next weekend. I hadn't been around the course before,it's a great mix of lovely flowing bends with constantly changing elevation and some open, fast parts. Sending on a litre sportsbike around there will be a handful, they'll be flying low most of the lap! Respect is due.

It's not a Hairdressers, it's a cafe.

When the BBC first decided to use the building in the show, it was being used by the ironmongers next door as a paint store. The owner turned it into a proper cafe when fans of the show started visiting Holmfirth, expecting it to be a real cafe.
I was confusing two programmes' locations:
The exterior shots were shot on Lister Avenue in Balby, a suburb of Doncaster; South Yorkshire. The shop itself is a hairdresser's salon, which closed for a Summer break during each year the series was being filmed by the BBC. The same location is used for the sequel series Still Open All Hours.

Went to Mingulay by boat, 11 metre Rib with twin 300bhp outboards.
My beach:
I can't comment on the price of cheap lager as there are no shops on the island, not could I see Olympus Mons in the background.

More from Mingulay:

A crab, not sure of species. I think it's on the remains of an unfledged bird:

Re: What have you done today thread?
Looking back back, today was one of the best days I've had in the near thirty years I've been up here. Pretty much everything was as good as it gets.
The boat ride was about an hour long and there was much wildlife to be seen, numerous species of birds, porpoises, minke whales and seals. On the west of the island is a natural arch it's only possible to navigate by boat in calm weather, we went round twice, and the skipper revved the engines on the second pass. Quite high cliffs too, so the sound reverberated pleasantly. After that was lunch on the beach and then back home, more wildlife.
I came as close as I've been to a seal in the water, close enough to see the yellows of it's eyes, but not quite enough for eye contact. 'Twas fun mimicking it by popping up and down, and diving resurfacing, each time a bit closer. It got bored before I did.
I might have access to better pics and video than I took as there was a film crew on board too.
It's nearly enough to make a man smile.

Your photos look idyllic, almost enough to make me want to go on holiday to Scotland.
