Apple and Steve Jobs didn't invent the mobile telephone, they didn't even invent the smartphone.

...and it could be Mansfield UK, she's got the right number of fingers.

If you can think of a short and snappy, technically and historically accurate, attention-grabbing thread title, I'm sure would amend it :)

The Mansfield News Journal is a daily newspaper based in Mansfield, Ohio, that serves Richland, Ashland and Crawford counties, as well as parts of Morrow, Knox and Huron counties in the north central part of the state. Wikipedia.

Back in about 1976, as I was queuing for a phone box to come empty with a couple of mates, and searching through my telephone book in my pocket, I said "one day, you'll be able to make phone calls from a wrist watch".

I remember sitting around the dinner table when I was a kid, maybe 25 years ago, while my Dad (a long term IBMer) told about this new "bluetooth" thing. Apparently you'd be able to have wires keyboards, mice and hard drives one day.

Then there's this advert from the mid 90s (I think)...now a reality with Amazon shops.

A mate of mine got one of the very earliest BT keyboard / mouse set-ups. After the first week, he kept a box of batteries in the drawer next to the PC ;)

But they've come on amazingly. And who would have thought you could talk to a biker a half a mile away using BT?

Like the vid, btw :)
