we have NOTHING like that... when i say nothing, i properly mean nothing at all. We have long climbs, like Butser Hill, which is grass, smooth, like riding on a pool table at 40deg.... rocky, nah, we don't have it... Anywhere down here. LOL.

All this Gnar you talk about, i'd love some of that, but it doesn't exist in the southern wastelands.
Houses are very cheap, compared to the south, around here you know....

Not that cheap, still £275k for a half decent detached.

Nothing out of the cheaper ones I'd consider. Lack of garage and being semi detached the main issues.

Think more, village, rather than town.

Depends on your frame of reference I guess. Where we were living in Kent, a village round the back of Brands Hatch circuit, £275k got you - 4 years ago - a 3 bed end of terrace.

The house next door to where we live now - a smaller 3 bed detached with garage in Ashbourne, a very desirable place to live (consistently voted one of the best places in the Uk to bring up kids https://www.derbytelegraph.co.uk/news/a ... ated%20GPs.) and one of the more expensive parts of the Dales - sold earlier this year for the same.

If it's got a pizza shop it's too big for me.

I'll allow a pub and a village shop, possibly a cafe at a push. That's it.

We're looking at a village about 5 miles from Ashbourne, place called Hulland Ward (which has a local shop and a couple of pubs and not much else) and looking at bungalow's as we want to make this our last move...

£275,000 where I live buys you my house (actually you'd need a little bit more than that), 3 bed semi with garage, built 1974. About 200 metres from heathland, maybe 400 metres from a Honda dealership, across the road from that is a car spares shop and a pub, plenty of takeaways within 1km.

We lived in Sheffield and I used to go trail motorcycling in the Peak District, it is fab, but I don't think I could live with the winter weather or how busy it is now, it's only a 3 hour drive if I want to go and ride there, must only be about 2 hours max from where Weeksy is.

A few years back I used to hear a mate banging on about mountain biking being better than motor biking. Meh I thought till I bought an ebike, all of a sudden my knackered knee wasn’t stopping me. I could go for a ride there was no risk of being stranded if the knee collapsed. Being an ebike I got speed, I discovered jumps, tracks and trail centres. Nearly 3 years on I’ve dropped a stone in weight and built a level of fitness I’ve never had, I still watch the knee but it’s better than it’s been in ages.

But the biggest plus is it’s social, you can if you want talk during a ride. Another huge plus is I can ride how I want, I can wheelie when I want, I can ride off road almost everywhere I want. Modern motorcycling is too restrictive for me with too many rules, I can break them but the penalties are high. On the mtb it’s like being a kid again with no rules. Add in purpose built trail centres and the Adrenalin rush is there too.

I’ll always like motorbikes and will always have one but the mountain bike is first choice now, more fun, cheaper, more accessible, more exercise, more social and the family can come along too.
In many ways it’s everything motorbikes used to be for me 20 years ago

That's about where I'm at, I've enjoyed mountain biking for the last 10 years or so but most of the people I ride with have gone electric. Mine should arrive in the next couple of weeks 🙂
