ZX10R Track Bike build
HI All
Posted in the Noob section and was welcomed so thought this was the right place to drop some pics in of the project that I have been putting together since March last year.
I'm no racer that's for sure but used to do a lot of track days and Euro tours, both car and bike.
I have other bikes which i didn't want to throw down the track so set about purchasing and building a bike to do the job but I think my aspirations went a little to far as you would think a track hack should be minimal to keep the 'repair' costs down
Anyway, in March 2020, i purchased this..

Re: ZX10R Track Bike build
Its a standard ZX10R KRT, not the Performance or RR model, standard suspension etc.
It kept the cost down and I'm not good enough a rider to take max advantage of swing arm positions etc..

Re: ZX10R Track Bike build
Take the expensive bits off and ride it, it's more than good enough, it's limits are way beyond most riders, don't waste your money on go faster bits, spend your money on track days, the more you ride the faster you'll be.
Oh no, posted too late, it's going to be covered in "bling" isn't it?

Re: ZX10R Track Bike build
I can write up the mods if anyone was interested, but once it was running and rolling I took it to have the ECU flashed and set up

I have the printouts and it shows 204bhp once complete

Re: ZX10R Track Bike build
So this is how she looked once she was near complete

I had a design in mind and once i had drawn it up and happy with it the bike was shipped off to be wrapped

Re: ZX10R Track Bike build
So this is how she looks now, other than the fact I have fitted Gold Dymags to the bike to complete it
Hope you like it

Re: ZX10R Track Bike build
I'll be amazed if you've not bumped into more than a few on here on trackdays then, several of us have done 100+, a couple arguably closer to 200.

Re: ZX10R Track Bike build
I'll be honest with you I have done more of late in the car than on the bike and I often head to the 'Ring' in the car a couple of times a year but now I have the bike finished I can look at booking something soon. Just waiting to get the cast off my wrist.... repetitive strain injury from lock down

Ignore Cheesy, he thinks bike development peaked in 1987.r1flyguy wrote: ↑Thu Jun 24, 2021 1:50 pmLe_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Thu Jun 24, 2021 1:39 pm

My 30 year old FZR400 is better than me, so I'm in no position to criticise.

I have a friend who had one of those and had a thundercat engine squeezed into it

Re: ZX10R Track Bike build
It nearly bolts straight in, when my 400 engine goes bang I'll put a Thundercat engine in it.r1flyguy wrote: ↑Thu Jun 24, 2021 2:01 pmLe_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Thu Jun 24, 2021 1:58 pmMy 30 year old FZR400 is better than me, so I'm in no position to criticise.

Re: ZX10R Track Bike build
It's a bit big but can be made to fit, there's an FZR400 with a Turbocharged Fireblade engine out there.
Of course rather than buying a very gay pink GSXR1100 you could buy my FZR and put a Thunderarse engine in.
