Squatters. ;)

Mind you, sparrows have never taken an interest so I suppose I shouldn't be fussy.

Two from me today !

1. My bank card was declined at the supermarket, I managed to get cash out with the same card and get what I needed. A few hours later my card was declined online despite me authorising the payment through the bank's app. I emailed the bank to be told "you have a €1500 spending limit per month". Well OK I guess.... but wait what's this, the bank have now increased my spending limit to €2500..... for just one month .....and charged me €5 for the privilege. What a effing cheek !

2. Guest arrives today, I was aware she has a medical issue as supplies had been sent ahead of her arrival. The guest had a tube taped to her nose. Now I've no idea what her condition is or what it entails. but I was pretty sure that her smoking was NOT helping !!

This is one thing that I do fail to comprehend... despite being an ex-smoker (ie, I've smoked in the past), I simply can't get my head around the mentality that leads to things like:

Dr: "So, your ill-health, as I've just showed you, is directly related to smoking 20 cigarettes a day, you need to stop"

Patient: "Yeah, ok, doc" <reaches into pocket for lighter and cigarette the second they leave the dr's office and sparks up>

Sometimes we really are our own worst enemy, both on a personal level and globally.

Of course if it were a nasogastric tube smoking might not have any bearing on her condition, but judge away.

It's just how they are. Some are more helpful that others. Some allow you to increase the spending/cash withdrawal levels for your card on the bank app. Some don't.

It's sodding frustrating - I ended up starting a Transferwise account for the business because in the winter my business card kept getting blocked and they wouldn't increase the level for the 5 months of operation  Side benefit was people could use Transferwise to pay a bit easier!!! LOL

But French banks (or at least, the one I use) REALLY piss me off!!

Experts that ain't.

A little over a year ago I had a Rinnai tankless water heater installed. The plumber that did the install placed the unit way up high on the wall and left without attempting to plug it in. Due to the height of the install, the cord wouldn't reach the outlet in the garage. The business owner came out and lowered the unit. Fast forward to this weekend and I was going to flush the water heater out. This requires a submersible pump and four gallons of white vinegar. The water heater has two pairs of valves, one on the supply side, and one on the hot water side. One of the pairs isolates the water heater from the house, effectively shutting off the hot water. The other pair is supposed to open a spigot to attach washing machine hoses to the submersible pump. Whoever did the install put the spigot on the wrong goddam side of the isolation valves. This means I can flush the hot water lines in the house. Dumbfucks. It's going to be a simple matter of shutting off the water supply, draining down the hot water side of the system and then removing the paired valves. The only trouble I can see is that the spigots might not be pointing in a favorable direction when the valve assembly is installed in the correct orientation as one side is a female coupler fixed to the assembly and the other freely spins over a flanged fitting with a sealing washer. Not telling what direction the assembly will be facing when the fixed coupler seats.
Missus Bwana was all worried that I'd fuck up a warranty if I did the work myself. pfft. I had enough other shit to do this weekend that I left it on the back burner for next weekend. I'm not too keen on getting yet another idiot out to fuck things up again. I'd probably end up with both spigots facing the wall.

So instead I spent the better part of the day killing grass and weeds in the driveway, I don't want to use RoundUp - the well head is near the drive, fuck contaminating my water supply with that shit. So I've tried vinegar, epsom salt, and dish detergent - it doesn't kill the roots. Today I did a concentrated salt solution, hopefully it'll render the driveway barren. This was done in 90°F heat with miserable humidity. There was a bunch of other shit I needed to get done outside today as well, so I was in the heat for about 10 hours. Leg cramps set in big time while I was taking care of a leaky drain on the kitchen sink this evening. That would be the second piss boiler for the day, writhing around on the kitchen floor with both hamstrings binding up tight.

So it is your fault that sunny Cornwall is not. Please give notice of your next day off.

Don’t worry, the weather gods punished me with extra heavy rain on the dog walk, properly flooded everywhere and the dogs managed to spread mud all over the house before I corralled them in the shower.

Bloody Sweaties :(

Walked into town to watch the footy. But all the bars are full of Sweaties they play the same time.

Had to resort to a crappy bar to see the game :(

I had plans to be really productive today, but it's absolutely hammering down with rain. That type of rain that see's you soaked through in 5 minutes. I only have a lightweight rain jacket and no waterproof trousers :(

So now I'm to decide, do I try and do what I can, get soaked and miserable, or do I sack it off and get bored watching netflix all day ??
