Re: donington-park-14-june-2021
Epic day with the gang up there.
Well, more for them than for me. But I had a fun day too.
The zx6 was faultless, although we had a minor disaster when fitting a part worn Sportsmart tt rear

It went BANG then went in the bin. We then had to buy a new rear instead which was painful bit hey ho.
Apparently they're amazing rubber so she now informs me, which is great news.
Long day but plenty of laughs.

Better it went bang there than out on track!

Re: donington-park-14-june-2021
That was a cracking day, it all started the night before with a curry with Tricky, Kev and Isabella with the crazy owner still there and the largest naan bread known to man!
By the time I got to track the next morning Weeksy was already there with the bike set up and ready to go. I definitely felt even more Valentino Rossi than usual! Sun was out, full day of sessions and bike was awesome as always, it's certainly not going anytime soon, no matter how hard Steve tries.
The day ran smoothly with a few yellow/red flags but all sorted out quickly and back out again. One thing I did notice is how crazily fast the groups seemed to be. I was signed up to be in inters, when I signed on they wanted to move me to Fast as Inters was full (still baffles me how that can be possible, surely you have a set number of people who can be in each group?) There was no way that was happening so went into novice and thank god I did. I've never been in such a fast novice group. Some riders in there that were stupidly quick for 'novice', luckily I'm used to fast and sometimes dubious under/over takes, however if you were a proper novice doing your first track day you'd have been properly shitting yourself. Not sure what the answer is to that one. However, I wasn't the slowest so that made me happy.
I had my first near miss with the biggest hare which decided to run across the track as I was going down Craners! That was not how I wanted to have my first off on track, luckily some hard braking and he got across without me taking him out! lol
The biggest turn of events was a bit of banter with Phil, as Portimao never happened he said why don't I go to Jerez with the boys. It seems that has become a reality! Booked for October. So my first proper Euro track day and I can't wait, although there will have to be a lot of being nice to Weeksy as it's just before his 50th. Whoops

Looking at your tyres, which arrived this morning, you push the front a lot harder than I do and you weren't hanging around.
Cheers for the tyres btw, front will be going on my FZR track bike to see if a softer front is what I need, the rear will go on what ever bike I buy next as it's too wide for anything I have currently.
