Re: At last!
I had a z550. Probably the worst built bike I've ever owned, and that includes a ducati.

Re: At last!
£11k here... we're being ripped off... again.
I actually very much like those. But I don't want such a big, heavy bike... shame they don't do a retro 'Z650' based on the ER6!

Re: At last!
I had an '81 that I used for despatching. It snapped the crank in half. A couple of months before that happened I actually set the fucker on fire & walked across the road to a cafe for some breakfast. Some thoughtless bastard showed up with a fire extinguisher & put it out. Then a cop arrived & started asking a lot of questions. Turns out I wasn't in trouble as it was my bike & I hadn't tried to commit insurance fraud by claiming for it. Damn thing still ran & only had a burn mark on the gastank. I hated that fucking bike & celebrated when it finally committed mechanical suicide.

Re: At last!
This.
Its a very pretty motorcycle
I've only ever owned one Kwak, a ZX9-R that had been owne by half of VD. Great bike but I didn't love it.
I could own one of those though.

Re: At last!
It related news: The instrument pods are the same as the ZRX, so the chrome cover from the 1100 is a straight swap

Re: At last!
I have always looked at those as a "maybe" for a future bike purchase and tried to get one as a loan bike when my first Multi was in for some routine work but they gave me a Multistrada 1260 Enduro instead, oh dear, how sad (Dealership was a joint Ducati/Kawasaki) ..... retro looks with hopefully up to date reliability as all my Kawasaki's were pretty good

Re: At last!
Been that way for as long as I can remember when it comes to bikes, they just swap the $ for a £.

Re: At last!
I had a z550. I liked it but as you say build quality was dire! After the exhausts rotted beyond repair I fitted a Motad Neta to it. Couldn’t believe I’d actually found something that rotted quicker than the Kawasaki offerings!

Re: At last!
The TK carbs used on some models had a habit of allowing the choke flap to be inhaled by the engine.

Re: At last!
I never understood how MOTAD managed to gain such a good reputation... maybe some plain brown envelopes passed to journos.

Re: At last!
I've been hankering for one of these since they came out. They are really pretty. However, I had a go on one last week - a 2021 demo bike.
I was disappointed TBH.
It made some lovely noises, even on the standard can, suspension lovely, ride is very planted and sure. Ultimately though, its dull.
Although that can happen to most bikes after getting off the MT...

Re: At last!
Just stuff a sorted engine from the Z1000 like Skub has into it... Went that path with my ZRX11 when I stuffed the top end full of ZX1100 gubbins.bevvo wrote: ↑Tue Jun 08, 2021 6:40 pm I've been hankering for one of these since they came out. They are really pretty. Wonder if the H2 blower engine will fit.....
