the Game changer bikes

So one that springs to mind is the ZZR1100 c1/2 a 170 mph bike when fitted with the full height carb tops. on rails, but not great if you want to change your line mid curve. However a real performance change at the time, what's your memorable game changing bike. :)

KTM 990 Superduke. Never wanted to ride a sportsbike again after the 990. Just an awesome thing, masses of fun.

Generally perceived to be game changers, or personal game changers?

As mentioned numerous times before, my FZR400RR was the bike that changed it all for me from a personal point of view, but I traded it in for an brand new, just released R6, which was an whole other world of performance.

Back in 1999 there was nothing like the R6, I test rode one back to back with a GSXR600, no comparison.

IIRC all the Mags gushed about it.

My mum still reckons it was the best looking bike I ever owned.

The first CBR600, GSXR750, R1 and fireblade all moved the game on for sports bikes not sure any others have made as big a jump since ?

There's big jumps and little jumps that were noticeable.

The K5/6 GSXR1000 was a little jump that made a big impact.

The first ZX10R was a sledgehammer.

GPz900? It was soon eclipsed by the GSX-R750, but it was a quantum leap forward from the previous generation.

And don't forget the humble CX500 that for the first time brought you halogen lights, electronic ignition and tubeless tyres on non-spoked wheels.

Z1? And the earlier CB750?

And going back a bit further (and before my time - honest) what about the CB77? It was pretty much a landmark development for the Japanese and marked the beginning of the end for the Brit industry.

It's the one I'd pick, and not just for it's performance, the finish and electrics where loads better than anything else made in 1980.

Though it's best not to talk about the first batch of 350s as they didn't run very well and ended up with a load of small modifications, the 81 350s were a lot better.

No problems with any of the 250s.

CB750 - 1st Japanese online 4
Z1 - Kawasaki showing they can build a better big bike than Honda
GS1000 - Suzuki showing Kawasaki how to make a big bike handle
FZ750 - first modern 4 stroke sports bike
VFR750 - Honda showing that they could build a bike that would last

400Four wasn't too bad. Although, I had to replace a plug cap which cracked.

Just checked How Many Left, 53 'F2' SORN or taxed. Doesn't list the F1. Not too shabby for bikes built in the mid/late 1970s.

C90, my first bike, then Suzuki 250 Hustler 6 speed two stroke twin. I have to add the Triumph 675 Daytona. Cracking bike.
