The only other option is armoured cable laid in the ground, which involves digging trenches, probably across land you don't own. How far away (in metres/yards) is your garage from your house? A catenary wire might still be an option if you could get it high enough.

It's a good 25m I reckon and 2 neighbours park their 4x4's round the back so I'd have to run it 2.5m+ high and across the access road. Plus then it shows there's something in the garage.

Never mind as I said all my bikes so far have had easy access batteries so 5 mins to remove.

scratch the XSR from your list then. Lets just say the battery is 'slightly challenging' to remove.

Liked that for the info, rather than the battery being a pain! Absolute worse case is run a really long cable out to the garage every few weeks in the winter. Although to be fair if it's a pain then I'll only need to do it twice a year. Once late Oct and Feb/March

Thing is, now I think about it, if you fitted a smaller lithium battery type, it'd be 20s to remove. It's just one part that gets right in the way as battery is big.

I had the pleasure of riding this again today as Mofo wanted to ride the XSR again.
Jumped on it and feel right at home straight away. Weirdly I couldn't get his brake lever the right reach for me, 4 was too close to the bars, 3 too far away.
Straight off the bat this thing was as much of a blast as I recall although it does feel broken compared to the XSR in terms of power, but as long as you stay on the power, it's epic.
Light, flickable fun!!! I went further than we'd planned as he looked like he was enjoying the XSR and I certainly enjoyed his.

If they could only make it as reliable as a Japanese bike, I'd have another

MOT passed today so that's done for another year.

Just so happened my brothers mate was booked in after me. So as I was about to leave he pulled in. So hung around and had a coffee. Good job too as his Blackbird failed on a rear disc, so he left it there for them to sort and I gave him a lift home. First pillion I've taken since 2007! The 690 felt like a chopper and was very light at the front end. Much preload needed if you took pillions a lot. Bike still pulled well 2 up though and was happy at 75 on the A roads.

As I was chatting and MOT place said it was a pass with no issues I've only just noticed an advisory for
"Brake indicates slight fluctuation of brakes effort front"

Not noticed any brake issues. Is this likely to be the start of disc warp or just a brake service?

I did a very quick google search and got everything from disc warp to overly sensitive braking rollers!

Think I'll start with a brake service as it's not been done in a while and may as well flush the fluid whilst I'm at it.

WEll i was going to mention it when i rode it, but yes, it's there... but most 690s have it too. The only time i truly got rid of it was when i fitted a Galfer Wavery which is a Power Part.

Pull your brakes coming into a set of lights, from about 20mph if you're doing it gently you can feel it on the lever.

:lol: Yes I know exactly what you mean now you mention it, but been there since day 1 so guess I'm used to it. Another KTM thing then :banana-dance: Just not come up on previous MOTs so thought it might be a new thing.

My old 640 KTMs used to squeak when braking gently, both I had from new.

Given it's been there from new I'll just service them.

A lot of bikes suffer this to a greater or lesser extent. The hot tip in the Falco/Mille/Tuono community is to find a bolt of the correct size to pass through the disc bobbins, along with two washers and a nut, and tighten nut and bolt (with washers next to bobbins) securely. Then get a ring spanner and move the bolt (and thereby the bobbin) back and forth while spraying a bit of brake cleaner on the bobbin/disc/carrier interface. This should clear out any crap that's behind the bobbin, which is basically what's causing the pulsing. Repeat this all the way round the disc(s), wash down well and the problem should be gone.

If you've had this problem from new it may or may not work, but might be worth spending a few minutes giving it a try.

Went out yesterday morning with my brother on his Z750 round his local roads. Met on the A507 which had packs of bikes on it already but once into Bedfordshire didn't see so many. Mainly circled round Old Warden, Shefford, Henlow way. Was a good ride but the roads are fairly open and lots of 75mph plus riding which my neck is definitely feeling this morning. Only did bout 1.45 ride but back and neck are moaning at me this morning. Not bike fit at all!!

I have the week off and Mrs is taking the kids for a play date Tuesday so I have the whole day to myself. Thinking of heading to Southwold for the afternoon. The sat nav took us an awesome route last time so seems a good place to head. Did consider Rye but anywhere Kent way will involve some M25 so think it'll be Suffolk

We've been playing in the Peak District the last two days. Revisited some old favourites and found some new ones as well. I've lived in Sheffield for over 20 years and it's embarrassing how little of the Peak District I've covered, and it's right on our back door. The little B roads joining villages I've never heard of are often the best.

To be fair it's like that in Herts/north Essex/Suffolk but I should imagine more so up there. I love seeing a random tiny single track road darting off a b road and ending up in a tiny chocolate box hamlet with thatched roofs and a tiny local in need of visiting.

When we first got a tom-tom with the plan a thrill feature we stuck in a pub 11 miles from me and ended up doing near 30 miles down tiny gravel tracks in the middle of nowhere that I never knew existed, let alone within 11 miles of me!

I can relate to that... When I used to live in Stafford bikey mates would drop by and forcibly insist we went out hooning. (Plus I was over 20 years younger y'unnerstand). Now I don't really have biking mates here, so I have to self-start. Which has never been one of my strong points...
